    Yankees Nady To Have MRI

Yankees right fielder Xavier Nady will undergo a magnetic resonance imaging exam on Wednesday morning after leaving the Yankees' 7-2 victory against the Rays on Tuesday night when he felt a sharp pain in his surgically repaired right elbow. "I'm hoping it's just one of those flare-ups," said Nady, who felt the pain after throwing the ball back to the infield on Carlos Pena's seventh-inning single. He felt the pain once again on the next play, when he threw the ball back to the infield after catching Pat Burrell's sacrifice fly. Melky Cabrera came on as a defensive replacement at the end of the seventh. "Just the way I felt tonight, I had to say something," said Nady, who underwent Tommy John surgery in Sept. 2001
Hopefully for the Yankees and Nady's sake this isn't serious. Couldn't have come at a worse time for Nady with Swisher off to such a red hot start. Nady is a free agent after this year.

    Re: Nady To Have MRI

Well at least Girardi won't have the problem of having to fit both of them in the lineup for the time being. With Swisher hitting everything in sight, that was becoming more and more difficult. Although that's not always a bad problem to have...

    Re: Nady To Have MRI

The Yanks injury parade looks like its starting to pick up speed, Swisher won't stay this hot obviously so if he's out for a decent amount of time the lack of depth will start to hurt more and more.

Besides I thought Swisher was your set-up guy these days?

Even if Swisher still plays well this obviously hurts the depth. Hopefully it's nothing serious.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

If the Yankees need an Outfelder to replace Nady, they can always trade for one of the Cardinals 4 starting Outfielders.

Xavier Nady went 1-for-3 in an extended spring training game Wednesday.
Nady has been out of commission since early April with an elbow issue. He's hoping to gain enough strength to begin a rehab assignment by early next week. A mid-June return seems reasonable.
Wonder if he will be used primarily as a DH or if they will chance it and let him make those long throws from RF.

He's gonna be DH'ing for probably at least a month. No reason to risk that arm ligament

Really? With Matsui, and Posada both needing time at DH, they're gonna give each of them enough days off to put Nady at DH?

    Re: Nady To Have MRI

The Yankees have too many guys that are DH-types. Nady can play 1B a little, so he could get in there as well if Tex needs a day off.

Posada will be catching plenty. Matsui and Nady will get switching turns at DH. I have a feeling Nady will see a lot less playing time until at least the All-Star Break, and even beyond, until he can play the field. And even then, the outfield has been solid without him, so I don't see him getting much time.

I know, but for a while when he gets back, he'll need to DH about half the time because of both his quad and his shoulder. Plus, he's just plain getting old, and will need those "half days off". We'll see how Girardi tries to work this...

He'll have to be playing the outfield...they can't keep 2 guys on the roster who can only play DH.

    Re: Nady To Have MRI

Swisher has fallen off, it would be nice if Nady can play the field sooner rather than later so we canplatton those guys.
