Santana has it locked up barring a complete collapse these last few weeks (highly unlikely).

Halladay with a nice attempt at keeping close, but Santana has pulled way ahead. Way ahead.

It took him 95 pitches to go 8 shutout innings! Santana's just filthy, good lord.

Although it was the Devil Rays...

True, but even so a start like that will top off his already stellar statistics and make him a sure bet to take the award this late in the season.

His current line: 17-5, 2.84 ERA, 219 SO's, all leading the league. It's in the bag.

I love this quote from yahoo:

Johan Santana became the first 17-game winner in the major leagues Tuesday night, allowing two hits over eight scoreless innings as Minnesota beat Tampa Bay 8-0 -- the Twins' 14th win in a row over the Devil Rays. Santana (17-5) struck out 12 and walked one. The left-hander, 8-0 since the All-Star break, retired his first 10 hitters before Delmon Young doubled with one out in the fourth
    Total Wins: 17 (1st)
Wins: 8-0 since the AS break
    Season ERA: 2.84 (1st)
    WHIP: 0.99 (1st)
    SO: 219 (1st)

There's no real reason why he shouldn't, he's been a staple in their rotation and he won't slip under the radar playing for the yankees. He's a big reason the yankees are where they are, barring a couple bad outings he's been incredibly consistent.

5th place at the best is all Wang will probably get IMO... Garland (CHI), Santana (MIN-front runner), Verlander (DET), Liraino is still going to get his votes especially since he is getting ready to come back!!, Holliday (TOR), I would even put Mussina in front of Wang, Papelbon (BOS) will get some votes, Zito (OAK) is quietly sneaking back into the picture, and Weaver (LAA) may even get some recognition. Too many quality pitchers with more experience ahead of him.... Although he is having a nice season, and really has been tough as of late!!!

LOL. Verlander and Liriano are rookies. They don't have more experience. But as far as the list I think it's:
    1. Johan
    2. Doc
    3. Verlander
    4. Wang/Garland/Liriano
    5. Wang/Garland/Liriano/Weaver/Papelbon

I think Wang deserves Top 5. His numbers are great and he's the 2nd best starter in the East. I don't think anyone from the West will crack the Top 5, that's just me.

Definetly. Normally I like NL baseball but it was pitiful watching this year. Pitchers not hitting spots, hitters missing easy mistakes, it's sloppy.

Johan threw another 11 strikeouts today in 6-1/3 shutout innings (gave up 2 hits). The man is a freakin' machine when he's at the Dome and appears to be a lock now for the Cy Young. Yeah, I know there's a 3 weeks left, but barring injury or some freak meltdown, how can he not win this?

    Yep, it's a lock. Why'd he only go 6 1/3?

Halladay took a line drive off his right arm today in the 1st inning, Jays went the careful route and took Roy out of the game.
