I am deeply bothered that Santana did not take my 22.5 million offer... alas, it was only for 2 years....

    Mauer, only 3 million. Wow.

Can we please get Minnesota a new GM? Between their shitfest deal with the cubs and not bothering to resign Kubel, Garza, Mauer, Neshek, Soria, Iannetta that team's cannon fodder.

Damn, Mauer is a steal at 3 million. I missed that. I agree, Minnesota made a catastrophic mistake and should be fired.

Not terrible. I get two picks at the trade-off of dropping just 4 or 5 slots in the order.

    Re: FA ROUND 1 Signings.

Just an FYI for the future, all comp picks or "sandwich picks" (aka the picks that fall inbetween rounds.... not the picks that have an actual number) if you will will be game-generated and I will let GMs pick what type of position they prefer for this. They will be among the talent level of the area they fall in. So for example, the 3rd-4th round pick compsensation will be talented like a 3rd or 4th rounder. One inbetween the 1st and 2nd... will have the talent of such. Any questions, let me know. Makes compensation a lot easier on me and I don't have to shuffle so many players around after the draft.

This has been like this for a yr or two now, but there has never been this much comp action so I figure I should clarify before we go further.

so...you mean this sandwich pick rule only applies if the team's pick is between 1-15 correct?
like if the if yanks signed a player of mine and they pick 29th, then I would get the their 29th pick, correct?
But if if the yanks singed a player of mine and they picked 10th, then i would get a sandwich pick and they would keep their pick?
...is this right...or are you changing the rules all together?

    Re: FA ROUND 1 Signings.

nah... the sandwich pick has nothing to do with that and never has really, because 1-15 picks are protected.

I'll explain it basically in simple terms, until hammer can come in and explain it more effectively...

New York (A) : P Johan Santana, 18,500,000 per year, for 3 years.
yankees owe houston a 2nd rounder... houston also receives a compensatory pick between the 1st and 2nd round

He is getting the Yankees 2nd rounder here, and a compensatory pick, instead of receiving a first and 2nd rounder due to the fact that the Yankees also owe Colorado a compensatory pick for signing Utely... this has pretty much how this has worked for a long time and has since Diamond Dave did something to cause us to impliment this rule. Thus, he is being sandwiched inbetween the 1st and 2nd round for the 2nd pick.

In the past, what I would do for these "sandwich" picks, is save a player until the very end of the draft, and then draft them with these teams 11th and 12th rnd picks. Or what have you. But it's just troublesome, especially with cpu generated picks which is inevitable. So what I am doing (and did last yr as well) is generating these sandwich picks and editting them to have the talent level of the same players who would have been drafted at the same time as them. I will let the GMs choose position if they wish and are around at draft time to do so, since it lets me and is only fair as they would be choosing their player in the real draft.

Honestly, it is only beneficial to the GM. This can't hurt anyone really. It's gonna help if anything, restock your farm systems... it'll get you better prospects right away. If you have any more questions or if I didn't explain anything the right way, please let me know... don't hesitate to ask

    Re: FA ROUND 1 Signings.

Was not really willing to give up a first rounder for Santana when he would cost around 20MIL... but can't say I wasn't tempted to make an offer

Got the participation bonus guy Gourriel... he'll play SS, since Crawford lost ratings.. and he did not cost any compensation... now to see what to do with the pen

I liked that signing a lot for you, dave.... seemed to fill a need nicely. But here I thought you'd be playing him at 3B and trading Encarnacion. Kudus to the extended chances you're giving Edwin, hopefully he finally breaks out for you...
