He was an older import that I reduced his age and made him very good. I did this to a pitcher as well, I think Mackus had him most of the time.. but yeah.. PA has pretty much done the same, make the imports younger.

Free Agency in my experience is such that if I don't pay close to top dollar, I don't get the players I want. I look at the signing as an investment in the future of my team. As you can clearly see by going to my clubhouse page, my rotation is aging, and last year they showed it. I need some youth there if my team is going to continue winning in the near future, thus far my minors have not provided it, and trying to make a trade anymore is like trying to pull teeth, that is unless your idea of a smart trade is one where you mortgage one aspect of your team to improve another (which I'm not in the market to do at the moment). Diez, while not extremely young, is younger than 4/5 of my rotation by 5+ years, and because I have the money now (not to mention a rather large contract in Alex Gordon coming off the books), I can afford to give him time to fill out more while letting Chaz Roe pitch through the final year of his contract. If he's any closer to filled out for me in 2022 and pitches better than Chaz Roe for the final 3+ years of his deal, that time I pay him for in AAA will be worth it.

yea, I bumped up his talent ratings a little bit, too. The game always seems to import pointless old guys. One year there were 3 guys and all were 35 or older and 2 of them were 1.0 star players...why even bother? There is a way for me to edit the email by pulling an end around going into the file through the program folder on my computer, but it's not worth it and I didn't think anyone would care that I made the guy younger especially when, as KoZ said, I've done that every time. I won't make them super young, but late 20s isn't too bad. It adds some much needed flavor to FA I think.
