make smart trades, draft well, etc.

free agency is overrated and typically ****ed up by morons, and doesn't always pay off.. doesn't pay off more than it does actually

Is it possible that 16.5/7 for an 8-9-10 LHP who's not injury prone or crappy in the clutch and has a 67 GBP is a steal?

    I think so.

I generally live off trades and a few overpaid FAs here and there.

    The draft is a crapshoot.

No telling whether or not the prospect will fill out.

Of course, I'm still a relative rookie at this game.

Trade the draft selections. Everyone is always in the need for prospects. Let someone else get lucky or suffer like giantsfan

No, you can hustle draftees along and if you place them properly get development.

As a guy who's had a lot of crappy teams, the only league that I've gotten screwed in development is Prov's but it was a luck of the draw thing and mismanaging.

Like I said, I pretty much live off trades.

That's how I have San Diego in 1st place in TSSL

There's still no telling whether or not prospects will fill out, no matter what you do with them in the minors.

And, in honesty, that's how it should be because that's how it is IRL.

    Not true at all.

I knew that I'd get something in Witcher and Montoya in S3SL.

I could tell by their age and ratings. It's just about progressing them properly.

That doesn't mean it was a guarantee.

It just means that the prospects you had happened to fill out and you didn't make the wrong moves (or non-moves) to stunt their development.

What's giantsfan doing wrong in TSSL if you have that much control over whether or not they develop?

What are you doing wrong in TSSL?

I mean, you can do things to stunt the development, but I don't think there's anything you can do to guarantee development.

And if there is.....there shouldn't be. Because there's nothing you can do to guarantee prospects succeed IRL, and that's kinda what we're going for here.

I'm not moving them along at the right times, because I don't pay attention as much as I should

Dry doesn't do much of anything in my league. He hasn't sent changes all year. Sent changes once last season IIRC. And he's made two draft picks in the last season between 2 amateur draft and 1 contraction draft. His team will either be opened up or contracted at some point most likely. And I know you're busy and so on. I don't take it personally. I just don't understand why people check-in, but then don't do anything.

I've had just as many guys gain and lose talent in the other leagues as well as mine. Just because you've only experienced it in one league, doesn't mean it does or doesn't happen to others. It's luck. Some people are really lucky in some leagues and some aren't. It's not the settings because I know for a fact that my settings were lower than SBSL when General/Giantsfan were running it. I'm not sure if Crazy touched it or not. I know mine are higher than Nick's but I've had just as many, if not more take hits in his league. And I had a ton of guys take hits in CSSL.

As hollywood said, prospects developing is like real life. Sometimes they make it and sometimes they don't. You also have to remember the game is a bit outdated and has its limitations. And this is one of the games limitations. You either suck it up and deal with it or you move on.
