Empire: Movie News
All the characters look pretty great, but Dr. Manhattan and Rorschach are spot on. Outside of the lousy music for the trailer, I am a bit more stoked by this but I really don't think a film can do it justice in the end.

As long as it has Rorschach splitting a dog's skull with a butcher knife, I'm happy.
Saw the trailer durring Batman, I have honestly never heard of the Watchmen, I never got into comics growing up. Looks interesting.
Everybody was going crazy over this, but I don't know anything about the graphic novel so it really doesn't mean much to me.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.
Ah, give me something clever to say here.
Watchmen essentially deconstructed the superhero genre back in the '80s. Fantastic mini-series.
Yep. If you dig comics, I would really recommend buying it before seeing a film. It really has been a work that many have not wanted to touch as it's translation to film would be hard, some have even said unfilmable, so before a film adaptation could possibly taint your perception, read it first. Most comic nerds (myself included) love it and even those in the literature biz give it proper respect.

I am sure Alan Moore agrees with you.
I'd rather it be left alone, but I am holding out hope until I hear more.

It's a trailer, so i am sure there is still a lot to be desired.
If it's good in a "book" (I use that term lightly) form, than I can assume that it will have a great story. My favourite sci-fi story, Dune, was a great book, but never could be made into a good film version. Though there was a decent tv series done.
I don't really understand all the hype around Watchmen. *spoilers ahead*
I got it a few days ago and finished it today and...I found myself bored throughout most of it. A lot of the character development seemed contrived (hey, I'm old and I miss dressing in my owl costume...lets go put a fire out). I imagine it's a refreshing take on the superhero genre...it's just I was expecting more from the plot. The end was ridiculous..."Hey I'm really smart, let's kill a lot of people for a short term solution that isn't guaranteed to last more than 2 weeks". I'm going back and forth in my head as to whether I enjoyed it or not...I'll probably end up reading it again sometime soon.

One problem is that this was revolutionary when it came out 20 years ago.
I was just expecting more from a graphic novel that landed on a Top-100 list. I'm going to give it another shot though, I want to be wowed.
