Let me put this question out there....which would you rather have, a coach that fails in the postseason or a coach that may not even get the team that far? It's just a question, I'm not insinuating anything else.

I'd rather the coach and GM step away from eachother following a 14-2 season and build from there instead of bringing wrecking balls to the conversations causing things to spiral out of control........

Do we have to choose between those two?

I mean, it's not as though Marty and Norv were the only two options available.

Not from the people in Chicago I've talked to and I'm there every single year at the end of January. The Bears fans I've talked to hated the Bears' offense. The defense was the only good thing about the Bears' run to the Big Game last year. When your offense continues to go 3 and out every time out and gives your defense zero time to recover on the sidelines, they're going to get tired.

No, you don't have to choose between the 2, but that's what the Chargers got. It was a good point that was made on Too Much Show and one I hadn't thought of before. Let's not forget, it wasn't Marty's fault that the team imploded against New England, the stupid personal foul penalties on defense that cost them the game, not Marty.

    Re: Chargers thread

Marty still needlessly went for it on 4th and 11 just to "prove" that he's not "conservative" and then cost us the team a time out by challenging the interception.

That aside, I do agree that he's pretty low on the totem pole for who to point fingers at for that game.

I think the whole playoff thing with him is a bit overblown.

    Re: Chargers thread

It's absolutely overblown, no question about it. I remember listening to fans after that game calling for Marty's head because he couldn't "get them to the big game", yet they hired a guy in Norv Turner who may not even get them to playoffs. I guess you reep what you sew right?

I think Ron Rivera absolutely deserved a shot at that HC position, Turner has had his shot, more than once, and has failed EVERY TIME.

    Re: Chargers QB situation

Norv will probably get them to the playoffs, but that has more to do with the rest of the division sucking as well than it does his coaching ability.

I was honestly shocked when I heard who they chose. Out of curiousity, if someone has this stat, how many times has Norv taken a team to the playoffs and how many games has he won? Do you know where to find that?

To his credit (as if he deserves any) I doubt anyone could've won with those Raiders teams.

But his record is pretty bad even without those two seasons.

Of course, the Norv apologists *coughBoltmancough* said Randy Moss and Warren Sapp was the problem in Oakland.

I had the same thought Leo, the Washington and Oakland teams weren't that good to begin with, but you would think with the talent he enherited in San Diego that he would be able to wipe his reputation clean.
