Definition of a big game pitcher: Curt Schilling. Man has been a beast in the offseason and went out and pitched with a ****ed up ankle. Peavy has no excuses. Big players overcome big things, he didn't. Have fun with the Cy Young Award.

I think this should be more like... Peavy not a COL SP... he likes to "miss" his coors field starts and who would blame him...
that ball park is a joke.. humador (sp?) or not.
We'll have fun with the Triple Crown Award too
Had Cameron been in CF to catch those balls Brady Clark turned into doubles and triples........Peavy would likely have only been on the hook for 3 runs......alas Cameron wasn't.......and Clark sucks, so he was
No, he will. As for Clark's shortcomings, the one on the wall was pathetic but so was Peavy. Peavy got rocked and has been rocked and needs to find a way to get over these big game meltdowns because I love watching this guy pitch and don't want him to turn into a Hoffman or Lidge.
As far as the meltdowns.........again......in case you're not paying attention........if those balls are caught, and they should have been......there is no 'meltdown'...........he's given up 3 runs and the Padres win
Giants Fan*
I thought that Giants fan remark was pretty witty I am dissapointed you don't feel the same.
p.s. we really needed cameron that game..
Of course you did as well as Bradley but who is to say he would make those plays. The one on the wall I can see but the one he dove for was a difficult play for anyone and it just went off his glove. That ball was smoked and he gained ground like crazy. This doesn't change Peavy's shitty games.
As for the Giants Fan* comment, it hasn't been in four years since I first saw it and had nothing to do with this thread thus not even close to witty.
He has all the excuses in the world.
He's Jake Peavy, not Superman.
Sure it would've been super awesome and ubber clutch had he found a way to kick ass while pitching with broken ribs or tendinitises, but that's certainly nothing to berate his ability to pitch in future "big" games when he's (hopefully) healthy.
Nobody's saying Jake's had a supurb post-season career....they're simply arguing that he receives too much negative heat for his bad rap for "folding in the big games"
I simply do not fault someone for not playing to their full potential when they're pitching with broken ribs. I don't care how many "bottom line" cliches you throw at me.

Like I said, some step up and some don't. Peavy doesn't. And I never once heard Peavy give an excuse but feel free to do so for him. Doesn't change anything.
The only issue I take with it is that in future "big games" people point to it and dictate that he's bound to suck again....when that logic couldn't be more faulty if he's not pitching with broken ribs or tendinitises in said game.
Jake didn't help his case by giving up 6 runs in the first playoff-type game he's ever pitched healthy, but Colorado has generally given him fits all together.

Not this year they haven't.
Jakes career ERA in Coors Canaveral is near 6 isn't it ? Hoffman's around 10 ?
