Peavy: not a big game pitcher?

I've watched him two years in a row in the playoffs against St. Louis and he has been shelled both times. He did not look like the Peavy that I watched in the regular season.

And again today, same thing. Big game, and he once again didn't perform like the Peavy from the regular season.

I feel like I'm watching someone else out there or something.

I disagree. Peavy just drew the bad luck of having to pitch today at Coors Field, and that is one big reason (which I neglected yesterday) that the Padres should've started Peavy instead of Tomko yesterday. You're no more likely to have a Jake Peavy-esque performance at Coors Field than you would with 3 days rest.

I could counterargue that I thought Jeff Weaver was not a big game pitcher (or even a regular season game pitcher) when he, as a Dodger, was shelled by the Cardinals in the playoffs. Then look what happened when he pitched in the playoffs wearing a Cardinals uniform.

For that matter I think the same can be said for Trevor and he is the best, but the 98 WS, Last years AS Game and the game against the Brewers. He seems to find a way to blow the big games.

Small sample size, only 3 games, one of which carries a huge asterisk that reads "JAKE PEAVY WAS PITCHING WITH BROKEN RIBS"

So what it's still 0-3 a guy like Peavy should have won them all or at least 2 of the 3.

He's not off the hook for today or last year, but don't give me the "bottom line" crap for 2005.

I don't care if it's Don Drysdale. If he's pitching with broken freakin ribs he's obviously not going to be himself.

Then lets agree then that he blew 2 out of 3 and should never have been pitching in the third, so he is still on the hook because he didnt tell anyone his ribs hurt.

I agree that he never should have been pitching in that game in 2005 against the Cardinals in the NLDS, but we may never know who's decision it was to pitch him and/or who knew about the ribs before the game started.

I'd say he's on the hook for 1 of 3

    Broken ribs
shoulder issues due to the WBC

This year he was healthy.........and the Rocks got him.........Did anyone bother to give the Rockies ( who frigg'n mash ) credit, or is everyone just piling on Peavy for sucking in big games

True, he wasn't exactly on top of his game for most of last year as a whole, not just the game in the playoffs.
