Padres Down on the Farm Update

    Date: Apr 19, 2006

Justin Leone continues his hot streak, powering Portland to a win. Mobile has the lead but Dale Thayer blows it in the ninth and loses it in the tenth. Even Meek was wildly effective and newcomer Richie Daigle picked up the victory, talking about it after the game. We also have plenty of other notes from Lake Elsinore, including Meek’s velocity and a potential DL candidate. Joel Santo debuts – in relief – but the game is suspended due to rain in the tenth.

How long before Leone is brought up ?

Send Bellhorn to oblivion as far as I'm concerned...what a huge waste of money and a roster spot.......he even looks defeated......can you say dump him now or package him up and trade him away......

    TMI Padrefan....damn dude.

I agree with dumping Bellhorn, Leo's right about the Padres not getting anything in return for him. We have to thank our lucky stars that Barfield has been hitting the ball very very well in Colorado. I think Bellhorn needs to be designated for assignment and bring up Leone.

    Report on Justin Leone

Justin Leone, 29, tears up Pacific Coast League pitching for Triple-A Portland -- .489, seven homers, 18 RBIs, 1.000 slugging percentage in 12 games.

Tell me you wouldn't rather see Leone in here than Bellhorn.....

I'm sure Bellhorn wants to be here, he's just not capable of being here with his playing talent.

You don't have to have great talent or ability to want to play for the Padres, because I want to play for the Padres and i'd probably make Bellhorn look like Babe Ruth

I watched Bellhorn during Spring Training and he just had that look like he didn't want to be there...I just don't have a good feeling about him being in San Diego. The main reason the Padres won the West last year was because of the deep bench we had. I would think Bochy would feel better about having a guy like Leone, that wants to be there, coming in in a big situation than Bellhorn.

I think Bellhorn needs to be released outright, simple as that.

    Padres Free Agents

This says it all about this upcoming Free Agent class....

"There's some depth this year, but very little star power,'' said one front office man. "You better already have your stars or be able to acquire them in trades, because you're not going to acquire them from this class.''
