Nah... a bunch of people that offseason, including Baltimore and myself, threw a bunch of money in Vlad's piss bucket to tell him to sign. So he was attempting to outbid Baltimore like that.

Nope. Montreal wanted to give Vlad every available penny he had. That was it.

    Yeah! lol

I made that offer hoping he would retire before the 4 years is up. I was hoping that he'd sign for less than 3Mil if I gave him a longer contract.

Actually.. considering how much I have to pay to just keep my players on my team when arbitration is done, I'm suprised my payroll is THAT low.... but all my stars (sans Loney, who will be up for a contract) are signed LONG term....

I wanted to go after 1 more player this off season in FA, but alas no luck..... but then again I have some talent and I know I did not want a 100MIL payroll

Saber, my payroll is only 9th...

And I think I overpayed for Cruz, and that's it. Riggans and Halladay deserved their money, and there was no way I was going to offer Pujols over 18 mil. Riggans will own the catcher position for a bit, and increase my fan interest (him and Halladay doubled it for cripes sake). Cruz is an 8-9 mil man, but I offered 11 to make sure I was going to sign him. Charles Tenney...well, I got him for a bargain. Halladay gives me the SP I lost in Moseley.

For Riggans to own the catcher position now, he has to have owned the catcher position... for more than 1 season.

Charles Tenney...? Bargain? In what manner?

I've found that old guys tend to linger as long as you pay them.

Tenney may have not been as overpaid as Cruz, Pujols, Riggans, ect, but he wasn't a bargain. $5Mil a year for 5 years is a lot for an average at best player.
