great another pop up by burnitz. what a joke. its like the guy forgot how to hit.
Wooo! Ronny!
Second MLB extra base hit, and RBI. How about that!?!
Hey, another nice play in the field by Burny.
snell is having a pretty solid outing, that is good to see. i hope its not wasted.
I would like to see a couple more runs on the board, but Snelly doesn't look like he needs them, yet.
7 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K for Ian. Very nice, time to go to Roberto and Gonzo.
There's the insurance run, Ryan Doumit doubles in Ronny Paulino. 3-0 Bucs.
Gonzo closes it out with his 4th save of the season. 3-0 Bucs win.
Ronny Paulino went 2 for 4 with his first major league HR, 2 run scored and an RBI. Ryan Doumit went had an pinch hit RBI double. Jose Bautista and Freddy Sanchez both reached base twice, with Sanchez getting an RBI.
a very satisfying win tonight. snell looked solid out there. gonzo looked shaky with the first two batters, but worked himself out of a jam.
hopefully snell is settling into a grove and we can count on him for some solid innings in the future.
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06128/688388-63.stmThere is outrage across the region as the sad-sack Pirates slink lower than even the most pessimistic fan might have expected. They lost again yesterday, 5-4, to the almost-as-hapless Washington Nationals. No one expected this. No one expected 24 losses in the first 33 games. Those who fervently follow the team thought this might be the year the Pirates would challenge for a .500 record. Instead, they are careening toward a 100-loss season.
It's not just the losing. It's the lack of anything resembling a plan and the continuing inability to evaluate.
Not many good words to see for the Bucs here.

There should be good things to say about Snelly, Duke and Maholm. These guys are all under 25 and all pitching real well at this point in the season.
Now, if only Oliver found whatever it was he lost...
Interesting that the game today was rained out. They rescheduled the game for June 19, which was supposed to be an off-day for both Arizona and Pittsburgh. So you get a National League game sandwiched in between two interleague series, very interesting.
well the good news is the pirates didn't lose today!![]()
