Re: 2049 Free Agency round 1 signings

I'll just make it next year's pick Slyder forfeits (he forfeits the one in the same range as he'd forfeit this year's...so if his team falls off and he drafts top 14 he loses a 2nd round)

Meanwhile, Prez gets a created prospect equivalent to whomever gets drafted at Slyder's current spot + the 4.5 he was going to get created anyway.

I agree that if you don't have a first you should be able to sign they guy you want.

Slyder had the idea of forfeiting his Hornsby comp prospect, which for this individual circumstance seems fair (he would have been about equivalent to a low-end 1st round pick anyway), but it would be hard to apply such a thing for future circumstances.

    Re: Type A compensation discussion

I think I really like Slyder's idea of just forfeiting his comp pick, which would have been about equivalent to who he could have drafted a that spot. It makes it easier to process than trying to delete a pick next year.

Unfortunatly the two ideas that make the most sense in terms of making everything simple and straight forward are two ideas I really hate (not trading picks or being not allowed to sign a type A if you traded it).

Because I don't like either idea for stated reasons I think I'll just take the play it by ear approach and ether kill a comp pick if it should be of similar value as in this case or go with the next pick they have available to give up.
