A huge sell on this one. Rafael Palmeiro is one of Baltimore's main bats in the middle of the order. Ryan Franklin is Seattle's 5th starting pitcher. Since the all-star break, Franklin's had a 6.16 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, and hitters are teeing off him with a .317 average. Seattle is also bringing up its pitching phenom Felix Hernandez, so it won't be long before Franklin is demoted.

Sell. Franklin is not a pitcher that would be missed too much unless he played for someone like the Reds. Mariners could use him, but his 4.61 ERA does not help the Mariners win more than what Palmeiro brings to the plate. Raffy is at a .280 BA with 59 RBI. The Orioles lineup is strong, but is less potent without Palmeiro in the middle of it.

I'll sell this faster than a baby with an upset stomach throws up. The Mariners fans are getting ready to say Ryan Franklin who... when they see the opening night performance of the youngster Felix Hernandez. Besides, the Mariners are out of the Wild Card race while Baltimore still has time to turn things around. Besides that as a starter, Franklin would only have a chance to effect 2 games (1 every five games), Raffy as an everday player has a chance to effect every game. Not to mention the fact that Franklin has gone a measley 6-11 this year. how can the Mariners miss anyone with a record like that.

Next up on Buy or Sell: Roger Clemens. It's pretty simple: Roger got his 10th win yesterday. Buyr or Sell Roger winning the Cy Young..again? Around the Horn to Redsrbetter.

But. Just look at this guys ERA. It is down to 1.45 in 149 IP. He also still has the reputation of one of the greatest pitchers in baseball ever. The closest to him is Chris Carpenter who has a far better lineup battling it out for him every day. Clemens will win the Cy young and still come back for more next season. Only next year, he will be a yankee again!

Sell. Forget the lineup, Carpenter's ERA is 2.26 and he's won his last 8 decisions. He's going to have at least 20 wins, and 5-6 more wins than Clemens with an ERA still very low. Carpenter is the Cy Young this season.

I'll sell this, Roger Clemens is going to have to make it to 17 wins to even have a serious consideration to win the Cy Young and with his team scoring so few runs in his outings (they have been shut out on 4 occasions) I just don't see it happening. I can't imagine that at 42 Roger will continue to throw in this dominating fashion all year long, even if he goes Roger is only on pace to win 15 games, and no one has won the Cy Young with that few victories. I look for Cris Carpenter to win, especially if he makes it to his projected 23-24 wins.

Buy. Even voters who are biased towards the number of wins a pitcher earns cannot overlook Clemens' stats. He has a 1.45 ERA and allowed hitters to get on base nearly only once per inning. Ok, so does that mean he has allowed home runs to bloat that ERA? Nope, he has given up only 6 in almost 150 innings. Besides, considering Clemens gets the Cy Young every year over possibly more deserving candidates in the past like Randy Johnson (2.60 era, 2.98 for Clemens) last season, why wouldn't he get the Cy this year?

Buy. Hernandez had 88 Ks in in 100 IP for the Rainiers. That alone says he has some stuff. With no other SP anywhere close to his numbers in their system, Hernandez is here at the perfect time. Especially with the earlier mentioned Franklin suspension. Hernandez will be a stud for years to come, 300 is a tough call, but I say he will get it.
