White Sox White Sox acquire Vazquez

    Link to article

It appears the Diamondbacks and White Sox are close to a deal that would send Javier Vazquez to Chicago in exchange for pitcher Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez and highly regarded outfielder Chris Young.

The two teams are expected to announce the deal on Wednesday.

I love it how plays for the Yankees (but only after they won their championship), then goes to Arizona (after they won their championship), and now goes to Chicago (right after they won their championship!)

Sorry Javy, but NO RING FOR YOU!!!

With Brandon McCarthy all but ready, this seems unecessary.

I guess Garland is a free agent after this season and has already said he wants to test the waters, and the amount of money he is going to want is more than the sox are willing to pay. The Sox still have Brian Anderson, so I dont think it was bad trade

Great deal for Arizona. Even though they don't really need Chris Young, they add a top outfield prospect, a solid reliever in Vizciano and a starter that won't be much less effective than Vazquez this year(or shouldn't be). Plus, they get to look at Nippert or another young pitcher when Hernandez gets hurt.

The ONLY way this makes sense for the Sox is if it's followed by an Abreu or Crawford deal, but something tells me that's exactly why Kenny did it.

Who said he would? I'm talking about Garland or Contreras (both FAs in 2006) being traded for Abreu, with possibly a Tim Hudson type situation (the Phillies would have a time period to negotaite a deal with him).

And if the phillies do that, may they be shot in the femur.

They were talking about taking a package from the Astros involving Backe as the centerpiece of the deal. I don't see how anyone could say Backe>Garland after 2005.

Is Vasquez worth a top prospect? I don't think so.
