Don't bother with the search, mofo. I found it for you.

Have you ever actually seen the guy hit? He can mash.

In spring training, Hairston got regular playing time since Quentin was hurt then. Hairston hit 23-for-54 (.426) and had 6 homeruns and 17 RBI. In 22 games!

Dude can hittttt. Give him regular at-bats and he will hit.
Silly me. What was I thinking while hacking DK's account?

Re: Padres ship Scott Hairston to the A's

Hairston certainly wasn't just a fourth outfielder not too long ago. Remember how silly the Diamondbacks were to think that about him?

And you're the one who seems to want to stick your neck out for the fans whose opinions don't necessarily reflect yours. You say you personally have nothing to defend about Craig Davis, yet you're at front of the line along with SC, Boltman, and J Five waiting for his 1000 yard season just so you can come back and tell me how it was never in doubt.

Re: Padres ship Scott Hairston to the A's

The only two claims I ever made regarding Craig Davis were that it was (at the time) too early to label him a bust (which is a claim I hold for any rookie) and that you're obsessed with him.

Neither of those claims suggested that I thought he was going to be a star. (Although it would have been funny had he proven to be good, but that didn't happen, nor did I say it would.)

Regarding the subject at hand, I never once claimed Hairston was going to be anything more than a 4th OFer. I laughed about him "owning" the Giants, but nothing more than that.

In fact, you'll find an interesting post in that thread I quoted DK in.

I get it now. The Padres have been without an X. Nady/Ben Johnson type to ride the bench and have fans complain about how they need to start them more because they'll be a superstar if only they get regular playing time for some time now.

Good to see them go out and get a replacement.
But keep pretending that I shared DK's opinion just so you can falsely accuse me of changing my opinion just because he's not a Padre anymore if it makes you feel better.

Like I said, it's not your opinion that I'm attacking, yet you keep sticking your neck out for those who do share that opinion. I don't mind reminding your homer brethen and them alone how wrong they are. For you to jump in and and divert attention away from the shittiness of a player to my so-called obession with that player only means you're against me on an issue.

I'm not sticking my neck out for anybody. Unless your definition of sticking one's proverbial neck out for someone is posting in the same thread as them, anyways.

Need I remind you that this conversation started because you insisted that I was "conveniently" changing my opinion, despite the fact that the previous opinion didn't exist?

Re: Padres ship Scott Hairston to the A's

I'm sure there are plenty of SD fans who have conveniently changed their opinion about Hairston. You may not be one of them, but God knows you would take it personally anyway and ***** that I'm stereotyping all of your brethen.

Re: Padres ship Scott Hairston to the A's

I'm sure there are some that may have changed their opinion.

You'd probably be hard pressed to find them because most of the Padres fans I know are too busy complaining like the Padres just traded Albert Pujols away and ruined our playoff hopes, but there might be some out there.

But whether or not there are any is irrelevant. I never changed my opinion about Hairston, but that didn't prevent you from insisting that I did because it helped you make an asinine quip about it.

apparently, Beane has had his eye on Hairston since 2007. he's under control through 2011, too. good deal by the A's.
    ahem

Bailey can't wait to meet Rivera

GALLAGHER TO PADRES: The player to be named in the Scott Hairston deal with the Padres will be right-hander Sean Gallagher, two sources confirmed to The Chronicle. Gallagher (knee) is on the disabled list at Triple-A Sacramento and is not eligible to be sent to San Diego until he comes off the DL.

Re: Padres ship Scott Hairston to the A's

As is the case with any other player on SD, savings from the sale of Hairston will go toward Becky Moores and her future poolboy lover. Sounds like a worthy cause.

What's more important is that the Padres will lose 105 games now when I was so giddily looking forward to a 101 loss season.
