Who-Dey!!! What a game today. The 'D' was stellar and the offense played well too. We need to avoid the dumb penalities, but that was one awesome game!

Let's go take out the Bears in Chi-town.

I watched none of the games this weekend... but that Bengals final score sure looked nice. It's obvious that Dante Culpepper doesn't need Moss.

    The game was impressive.

And Culpepper needs more than Moss. He needs an O-line and a 'D' protecting him, along with a new Coach.

i told you guys palmer would be a great qb. he is a USC Trojan so he only knows greatness.

matt leinart is even better than palmer tho.

Yeah. He certainly looks great. His arm is obviously strong and he is learning to make good decisions when he needs to. He has a "veteran presence" on the field already. The only thing he could cut down on a bit are the Red Zone Interceptions.

It's good to see Ramon Ortiz pitch like Ramon Ortiz again. Now maybe our clueless GM won't be fooled into thinking he's turned a corner and would be great if we brought him back next year. The only reason I'm not totally convinced here is because we're discussing Dan O'Brien.

Whooo! Edwin with a 3-run double to give the Reds a 7-6 lead in the top of the 7th. He's really coming on lately.

Terrible pitching performance by the Reds tonight, but what else is new.

I think Belisle should be starting. He had been a starter before this year and seemed more comfortable in that role. Some of his best performances in the bigs have been as a starter.

Our hitting was great as it usually is but got shafted as it usually does by our pathetic pitching.

I am really sorry I havent been posting much in the way of game threads lately. With my school work needing more and more attention and increased working hours, I just havent had the time. Anyway, it looks like the Reds beat the Brewers up pretty good tonight. Why? I was really hoping we could lose the rest out to get a slightly better draft pick possibly. Oh well, it's nice to see Dunn inch closer to another 40 homer season (1 away) and for Freel to have a nice night. But jeez, look at Harang's line; 14 hits in 7.1 IP and he managed to get out with only 4 runs against.

My theory on Harang is that he knows his stuff is a bit shot for the year(since this is the first time he's went over 200 IP in a year) and he is making up for that by trying to throw few pitches by making the pitches when he has to to get grounders for DPs. He had two or three DPs turned tonight which really changed the complexion of those innings. He has really developed into a smart pitcher and I hope he'll be able to last the whole season next year on his stuff alone.

I agree. And on Harang's endurance, I am really surprised. It goes to show you the impact that desire and work ethic can have when a player works hard enough. Harang is not only a smarter pitcher but a much better conditioned one than when he first came here. You got to love that combination.

He really worked hard this past offseason and I'm sure he'll work even harder during this offseason. You can tell he's a competitor out there on the mound. Claussen has been much better too, but he needs to take that next step next year of hanging in there when things get tough. Nothing rattles Harang and he will normally challenge hitters with his stuff. Obviously Claussen doesn't have quite the stuff Harang does, but he needs to learn to locate a bit more consistently and not give up the big bursts of runs every once in a while.

If Claussen can continue to refine his control, he will be solid. I can't say though that it wouldn't hurt if he regained the speed on his fastball... but the further he gets away from the surgery without getting it back, the less likely it looks.

Anyway, I really dig Harang's attitude on the mound. I think I recall someone saying (either here or elsewhere, I cant remember) how when Harang was getting batted around and looked so calm that it showed that he didnt care or whatever. Harang seems to keep himself in almost zen like state which I think is much more effective than the pitcher who gets so emotional with each hit. But then again, I think in general from the interviews I have seen with him, he's just a calm guy who can keep is composure.
