Pierre: Should I stay or should I go?

Chicago Sun-Times (scroll down): "His future is made more uncertain by the fact the Cubs would like to re-sign center fielder Juan Pierre. Pierre's decision might hinge on whether Baker returns, but Pierre wouldn't comment on that speculation."
    http://www.suntimes.com/output/cubs/...t-cubnt11.html

If he is awaiting a decision on Baker's future, he will likely not be a Cub next year. Unless things are going on the opposite end of what I have been heraing. But the media may be way out of whackas usual when they talk about Baker being fired and all.

Anyhow, do the Cubs need Pierre? If so, how bad?

Uh, why would anyone want Pierre back? He's not a good player.

I think the Cubs need to call up Pie in September. If he looks like he's ready then let Pierre go. If not re-sign him to a one year deal. Pierre is too inconsistent for such a very important part of the lineup.

I agree that Pie may just need a little learning in a big league manner and it may be a viable replacement for Pierre. Good thinking there and it would save some money for the Cubs so they can maybe use it to replace some their their SP.
