Didn't we have one of these around middle of the season or so? Well, little more than a month to go.. who's gonna hold up down the stretch to win it?


Webb- 19-5, 2.95 era, 157 k to 46 walks

Lincecum- 15-3, 2.46 era, 201 k to 67 walks

Dempster- 15-5, 2.85 era, 153 k to 65 walks

Volquez- 15-5, 2.80 era, 155 k to 73 walks

Sabathia- 8-0, 1.60 era, 5 CG, 74 k to 15 walks (overall: 14-8, 2.95 ERA, 8 CG, 197 k to 49 walks)


I listed the complete games for CC because he has more than the other 4 combined, and overall, double the other four combined.

geez.......they all have Cy Young type numbers......i'd have to go with Lincecum, because he has all the numbers besides wins, and he's low on losses. I find losses and ERA are a much better way of telling how a pitcher does than wins. So Webb's 19 wins don't impress me as much as Lincecum's ERA and K's and lower losses.

Lincecum does have better numbers though I have to go with Lincecum. He is better away from the pitcher's park he calls home with a 1.98 ERA on the road. Lincecum has 7 games with 10+ strikeouts and Webb gets better run support. Not much better but better. Lincecum leads in two of the Triple Crown categories and has less losses than Webb. The Freak gets my vote.

You can give him 15 wins now!! 15-3, 210 K's and a 2.43 ERA now!! He threw 132 pitches and wasn't a happy camper when they took him out. Rockies were only 5.5 games out entering tonight Lincecum>Webb at this point.

Because I remember hearing on the Giants post-game show in July that Lincecum's record was 8-1 following a Giants loss.

Good race indeed. Question might be, would you be fine if your guy didn't win it, and any of these other options did? I know Sabathia hasn't been in the NL the entire year, but as pointed out by Dry, the man has ridiculous numbers and they really matter since Sheets has been up and down since that trade (and Parra has been running for his life from Fielder).
