Nationals at the plate: Jorge Toca drove in two runs with a single off Chris Sampson in the sixth inning. Designated hitter Alex Escobar was 2-for-3.

Astros at the plate: Mike Lamb's three-run double in the sixth began a seven-run frame that ended with an RBI single by Hunter Pence. Carlos Lee drove in a run in the fifth with a single to center, scoring Craig Biggio. Jason Lane's double in the sixth scored Chris Burke, who led off the inning with a triple.

Nationals on the mound: Starter Jason Bergmann pitched two scoreless innings, striking out one. Beltran Perez pitched two frames, allowing two hits and one run with three walks and one strikeout.

Astros on the mound: Starter Wandy Rodriguez pitched two hitless frames, walking one and striking out two. Matt Albers followed with two scoreless frames, allowing two hits with two walks and a strikeout.

Grapefruit League records: Astros 2-2; Nationals 0-3.
