Dodgers at the plate: Los Angeles scored its only two runs in the top of the third inning. Second baseman Damian Jackson scored all the way from first on a double by Kelly Stinnett. With no outs and runners on first and third, Juan Pierre hit into a double play, but Stinnett scored on the play.

Nationals at the plate: Catcher Juan Brito drove in three runs. In the third inning, he hit a home run off right-hander D.J. Houlton. An inning later, Brito had a two-run single off Tim Hamulack. Brito scored the fourth run of the game on a wild pitch by Scott Elbert in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Dodgers on the mound: Right-hander Brett Tomko pitched two shutout innings, while Houlton gave up all three runs -- one earned -- in 1 2/3 innings.

Nationals on the mound: Starter Jason Simontacchi pitched three innings, and he gave up two runs on five hits. Matt Chico pitched three shutout innings, gave up two hits and struck out two batters.

Grapefruit League records: Dodgers 2-2, Nationals 1-3.

Up next: The Dodgers travel to Fort Myers, Fla., to face the Red Sox on Monday at 1:05 p.m. ET. Los Angeles left-hander Randy Wolf will face Boston right-hander Josh Beckett.
