    Nationals Ortiz No-Hitting Cardinals

Probably one of the most unlikely pitchers to throw a no-hitter, that is exactly what the Nationals Ramon Ortiz is doing against the Cardinals.

The Nationals currently lead 3-0 in the bottom of the 8th inning. Ortiz has walked 3 and struck out 5 in 8 hitless innings.

8 innings of shutout, no hit ball... and he hit a solo homerun.

And ESPN takes its coverage to the game, and Miles immediately singles.

So much for the no-hitter. Aaron Miles leads off the 9th with a single to break up the no-no.

Also if anyone is interested, here is a short list of Expos/Nationals pitchers who have thrown complete game no-hitters:

    4/17/1969-Bill Stoneman vs. Philadelphia
10/2/1972-Bill Stoneman vs. New York Mets
    5/10/1981-Charlie Lea vs. San Francisco
    7/28/1991-Dennis Martinez vs. Los Angeles

Martinez's no-no was a perfect game too... if I recall that correctly...

That's gotta be a confidence killer, getting owned by Ortiz and all.
