One has Cueto as a 10 10 10 potential and the other has him at like 6 8 7

    Save them as jpegs?

Ratings fluctuate on the new OOTPs frequently. You'll also notice splits on hitters to be pretty extreme at times.

Do the ratings even serve any real purpose if they fluctuate so much?

Injuries, hot streaks, loss or gain of talent.. I haven't noticed a definite pattern if there's even one at all. They still serve a purpose, it's not like I'm saying they fluctuate game by game or even sim by sim. But I'm saying you could have an 8-8-8-8-8 outfielder one sim and the next he's 5-7-5-7-5. Or he suddenly can't hit lefties or righties.

I think OM could tell you about it more, but he had Carl Crawford who completely fell off the map against lefties. Well, it's the leagues on forum you're on as well, I don't think you're in either league that uses the new OOTPs.

I thought about joining those leagues, but I'm not sure if I have the time.

I ignore the ones I'm in a bit too much as is.

    Re: OOTP 10 question

This is an issue that I have meant to post a thread at OOTP in an effort to get an answer.

Here is the issue. One is your scout's ratings and the other is OSA ratings, which I believe are basically if scouts are turned off.

I want to know which ratings are more accurate. JoeJordan shows Justin Smoak all tens, while OSA shows him less than that.

Maybe someone can post the question in a thread at OOTP.

    Re: OOTP 10 question

As I work on the rosters and learn the game, maybe I can shed more insight.

The settings I used in OOTP9 seemed to work great. I use the 20-80 ratings scale and turn scouts off completely. Or only use the OSA's anyway.

Let me open the game and post back the settings I've been using as I've simmed day by day while entering the major transactions, and running all 30 teams manually to ensure nothing stupid happens (i.e. Pujols for Matt Diaz, or something retarded by the computer).

I'll post back in a second.

P.S. Since I own both now, if it is determined by everyone that OOTP10 isn't as effective with running a sim league in terms of random losses of talent and all of the other stuff that is coming up in this discussion, we could run in OOTP9 if it's a better program base for what everyone is looking for. I was going to buy OOTP10 sooner or later anyway, though admittedly preperation for this league drove me to buy it sooner than I would have otherwise. So either way, I would've bought it anyway. But I have kept OOTP9 on my hard drive this whole time and know how that game works a little more than OOTP10 (as of now anyway-- still learning some stuff, I only bought it Friday and I barely touched the game yesterday at all, so I haven't made a ton of leeway yet).

I would rather us run in OOTP10 of course, because it's the current base and what everyone uses now probably. Plus, roster work would be much, much easier to do for OOTP10 since it's already pre-loaded with better rosters than OOTP9. If we did 9 we might literally have to wait until next season to start (lol maybe not that long)... it would take forever to create and maintain decent rosters to start with.

Ok Slyder, I looked at those and the first thing I did notice, is the ratings right there are of different base than the ones I'm currently using while making the file. I'm going to post my own screens momentarily to give you an idea of what I'm working with right now.

If I get around to it, I'll make a post trying to list all of the options we have to use for different things.. i.e. different rating formats, different in-game sliders they have available, different modifiers for other shit... whatever is in there that can effect gameplay/progression or anything like that. I haven't devled into the options or setup much, because it looked very similar to that of the engine and options from OOTP9, so I kind of already knew how to do the simple things like edit players, assign players to other squads, etc...

    Re: OOTP 10 question

There is no difference between 9 and 10 when it comes to the random talent losses.

I feel like this was the issue with the 1951 league. I don't think it was because he added those minor league fillers, it would maybe at best explain the fluctuation in the star rating but not the actual ratings. It's perplexing, just not to say the new leagues suck in anyway though.

    Re: OOTP 10 question

that's the problem with the newer versions to me. they make them more in depth and such, which is great on one way, but seems to make online league with numerous people harder to work with.
