    Jays Pitch Offer To Burnett

10 million for this guy is too much but it will only go higher. Shame on baseball!

I hope he takes that so it doesn't go higher.

By the way, when they pitched him the offer, did it bounce in front of the plate and get by the catcher in true Burnett fashion?

Burnett will be signing for no less than 12 million a year. Sad, but necessary.

a lot of money for a below career below .500 pitcher, but according to the Clemens lovers, wins mean nothing! So this guy should be rewarded for being the average pitcher he is. Because we all know .500 teams make the playoffs every year

Burnett doesn't have Clemens' other statistics that make Clemens great. Plus, he got kicked off the team towards the end.

I wasn't comparing the 2 players. Just saying that a lot of people here say wins are meaningless, so this pitcher should fit right in with that crowd was my point. Reward him for being average!

The Red Sox did the same thing with Clement last year. Only after this year with his 13 - 6 record (and ERA above 4.50, talk about offense helping you) did he get above .500 for his career. 82 - 81 now. AVERAGE!

He's 28, has a career ERA under 4, and is coming off his best year, where his ERA was 3.44. Sure, the wins aren't there, but his stuff is ridiculous, and his GB ratio is fantastic, so in certain parks he will be a legit ace. And don't tell me he has injury problems. Since coming off the DL for TJ Surgery he hasn't been hurt once. Some teams probably wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole, but other's see him as a potential TOR guy who will dominate for 4-5 more years.

    Good point.
I don't want no TO situation to pop up here.
Yeah, I want him in Toronta, but I don't want him if all he is there for is the money.

another good point, you don't want to over-pay too much for someone

besides I'm hearing his wife doesn't want him to sign with Toronto
