    Jays avoid sweep by Texas

Gustavo Chacin gets his 11th win and lowers his ERA to 3.28, Chacin tied a career-high with six strikeouts and allowed no earned runs in 6 1/3 innings.

Jays win 5-1, due to a great 3rd inning where the Jays scored 4 runs with all of them coming with 2 outs, Vernon Wells hit his 21th HR a 2 run shot off the left field foul pole, Gregg Zaun and Alex Rios followed with RBI singles later in the inning

Reed Johnson added a solo HR in the 7th that went off the facing of the 3rd deck in left field

Chacin (11-5) now leads all Major League rookies in wins, ERA (3.28) and innings pitched (129). Those are the type of credentials the Venezuelan will require in order to stay in the running for some hardware at the end of the season.

Nice game. Man the Jays are getting som great starting pitching lately. Chacin is something like 5-0 with a 2.5 ERA in July.

Now lets see if the Jays can get a couple wins against the ChiSox.
