Contract Your fearless leader for a few more years

TORONTO -- Cito Gaston signed a two-year contract extension with the Toronto Blue Jays before their home finale Thursday night against the New York Yankees.

General manager J.P. Ricciardi also got a vote of confidence, with team president Paul Godfrey confirming Ricciardi will be back in 2009. Ricciardi has two years remaining on his contract.
    I'm sorry, Halladay.

I ****ing love this move. I like Gaston a lot and can't believe no one gave him a managing job in all his years out of baseball or in the front office. Good for the Jays!!

Re: Your fearless leader for a few more years

Looks like their 10-game winning streak saved Ricciardi's butt and kind of helped to take the attention away from the fact that THEY FINISHED IN 4TH PLACE IN THE DIVISION. Toronto actually regressed. Ricciardi should be gone.

Did he make any good moves this year?

    - Trading for Kevin Mench? Fail.
    - Signing Brad Wilkerson? FAIL.
    - Trading Troy Glaus (100 RBI) for Scott Rolen (50 RBI)? Epic fail.

Ohh, you mean JP. Epic Fail.

But I love Cito, seems to get the players actually playing for him, instead of just swinging a bat for the fun of it. Maybe its just me, but the utility players on this team played a hell of a lot better once Cito came into town.

His team hasn't mattered since Joe Carter. You'd be emo too.
