    McDonald Extended

Blue Jays agreed to terms with shortstop John McDonald on a two-year, $3.8 million contract.
McDonald is the same player he's always been, but no one has felt the need to sign him to a multiyear deal until he was two weeks shy of his 33rd birthday. The Providence College product is batting .252/.276/.332 in a career-high 286 at-bats this season. He remains a Gold Glove-caliber defender, even though he doesn't have as much range as he once did, but his glove alone doesn't make him a quality regular. The Jays should still be looking for someone to start over him next year. However, it doesn't figure to be their top priority.
Great signing for a great glove. Not a lot of money and the guy has such ability. Roberto Alomar held this guy in high regard when they played together in Cleveland.
