Jays going for the series win tonight, the O's throw another canadian at the Jays

Roy Halladay, RHP (7-1, 2.81) vs Adam Loewen, LHP (0-0, 7.45)

    Scouting Report:
Completing his fourth eight-plus-inning outing in his last start, Halladay allowed just two runs on five hits at Tampa Bay for his team-high seventh win. Halladay had a standout May, going 3-0 in six starts with a 2.89 ERA. He threw two complete games (against the Rays and Angels), and went 8 2/3 in another outing (Rays), and allowed three or less runs in four of the six starts. He's got more career wins against Baltimore than against any other team, with an 11-4 all-time record and 2.97 ERA.

Loewen gets another start, bumping Bruce Chen from the rotation and getting another chance to prove he belongs in the big leagues. Loewen pitched relatively well against the Yankees in his first big-league start and took a no-decision. The 22-year-old southpaw is in the rotation on a start-by-start basis, and any tough start could be his last.

    Pitching matchup
TOR: RHP Roy Halladay (7-1, 2.81)
Has thrown at least seven innings in eight of his 11 starts, including two complete games.

BAL: LHP Adam Loewen (0-0, 7.45)
Will face a former Cy Young Award winner for second time in as many career starts, after going head-to-head with Randy Johnson last Saturday.

    Player to watch
Vernon Wells, who's batting .336, went 4-for-5 Wednesday, and is 10-for-23 (.435) through six games on the team's road trip. Wells' four-hit performance raised his average 10 points.

Don't be so sure of that. Loewen's first taste of major league hitters as the ace for Team Canada during the WBC, and his first Major League start was against the Yankees and Randy Johnson. No reasons to think he will be destroyed because of nerves.

    He'll get destroyed because:

    (1) The Blue Jays hit lefties very well, and they hit unexperienced crappy lefties even better.
    (2) Adam Loewen is an unexperienced crappy lefty.

and DK is right, before Bedard pitched against the Jays, the jays were hitting a .339 avg against lefties, tops in the majors, and 2nd team was .31 points behind the jays

I wouldnt go as far as to say Loewen is crappy. Both Bedard and Loewen are pretty good in my opinion. But it just so happens we hit so well against lefties.

Which rookie isn't inexperienced? I also wouldn't call a top 4 draft pick crappy in any way, especially considering he's had comparisons to Randy Johnson.

No, they are getting ready to start the game back up now.

Oh, and if the game gets caught in another delay, here is a local station's radar, so you can keep updated......
