TBSL Bank

Inspired by a joke post by KoZ, we here at TBSL are pleased to introduce the opening of the TBSL Bank!!!

This Bank will allow teams to take loans to get that one extra player they need for a WS run. The catch of course is that the teams will have to repay the loans WITH INTEREST. Failure to do so will cause the owners of the bank (Commish’s) to take your players off your team and sell them to the highest bidder , and we will take any players (including prospects) to get our money back! Obviously, failure to pay will cause an interest rate increase or refusal to be accepted for a loan.

Regulations/Rules:

• The TBSL Bank will start with 80 Million dollars.
• Teams wishing to apply for a loan should PM cjkalt with the following information:

A)How much you would like to loan
B)What the loan will be used for (FA offer, Trade to get big SP etc…)
C)How many years you want to repay the loan in (2 or 3 years)
D)Are you willing to accept a partial loan if the Bank can’t give you a full loan?
E)Quick Plan on how you expect to repay loan? (Expiring Contracts, Increased Revenues)

• Teams with extra money MAY choose to invest in the bank. Based on when you want to be repaid you will receive your money + interest (Interest Rates shown on below chart) Again PM cjkalt with the following:

A)How much you will be giving to the Bank
B)When you want to be repaid (2 or 3 years)

Notes:
1)Interest Rates are not compounded (If the Bank loans you 3.33 mil x 3 years (Loan Totaling 10 mil), you will owe the back 10.75 mil)
2)You can repay the loan over the time ( Can pay 4 mil after year 1, 3 mil after year 2, 3.75 after year 3)
3)All Loans will be Public Information and Kept in a Thread inside the Extensions Thread
4)If you have 2 10 million dollar loans, you are only charged the 10 mil loan rate for each loan


If there are more loans than money:
1) We will try to do partial loans
2) If people don't want them, we will go First Come, First Serve

This is disappointing... It rewards fiscal irresponsibliity. O well, it's a new twist.

This definitely should be postponed until next off-season. Doing it after FA period #1 really benefits some teams more than others. Major changes should always be implemented during an off-season.

We thought about it, but if you signed a guy period 1, or offered to a guy for period 2 u can feel free to submit an application.

Also I'm not sure how this rewards irresponsibility, we are not BAILING out teams, the idea is to give you a few mil if you need it to make a signing or trade. Plus you get nailed if you don't pay it back so its just to try boost FA and Trade Deadline moves. Its not like if you need 5 pieces you can get 5 loans... but feel free to post how u see this OM

To me it is financially less than responsible to promote this. We all know that Commish's have helped out active GMs here and there with extending an important player when the finances have run out, but this promotes spending more than you earn.Also the timing is such that many of the players a GM would have taken a loan out to try and sign.... are already signed. That is why major changes should occur at a point where everyone has the same ability to take advantage of the change.I do disagree with this concept in principal, but I certainly am open to try anything. After all it is just a game. Lets have fun!

yea I agree, we'll start this for the next season OM... We'll try it, if it sucks we'llmove on in a few sim yrs.

I'm totally behind CJ with this. It was a random idea I had after I saw Zito's post, and CJ took it and ran with it. I honestly think he did a great job, and also OM, I don't know if you saw, but teams with extra money also have the ability to put their money in the bank and receive interest, thereby rewarding teams with extra cash.

I have been trying to come up with ideas for a while now that would make TBSL stand apart from the other sim leagues, and because I'm not as creative as a lot of people on this forum, it's been a bit of a failure so far. But I think this is going to be a fun idea, and we'll see where it takes us next year. Unfortunately I had the idea about 2 days too late, but next year we'll see what happens with it.

We are starting this in 2013, unless people want us to start at the beginning of the regular season, we can't start in the middle of FA like OM said.
