I'm not complaining, it eliminates competition and solves at least 3 problems for me.

Would have contended? Did you see how bad the bullpen was? All those guys like Wood had 6 contact... I have old dead money, and I dont know how the 1st season in the league is going to be, lets be honest there will be flukes and things that have to be tweaked, I'd rather have the top specs, plus a lot of my talent is older (Vlad, Matthews, Hunter, Lackey etc...) and I'm not inclined to spend big bucks extending these old guys.

Contact for the guys I dealt: Wood at 6, Kendrick at 8 (but his 3/4 discipline scared me)

Its the fact that the core of the team (Vlad, Hunter, Matthews, Lackey) are old and I wasn't thrilled by Wood and Kendrick. I figured I could get good value and that way when I'm ready to compete the kinks in the league will be smoothed out and we'll be good to go for more than 1 season

It's not like the other bullpens are great. Lets be fair, most MR's in the majors are no better than an 8/8/7 in OOTP. Obviously not true about closers, but it's not like that pen was gonna cost you 15 games...

Where was the offense? i had no elite 1B, no CL i didn't like wood so where does that leave me? Figgins was a nice piece for sure but these guys are getting older, and there was nothing behind them so it was 1 or 2 seasons and then rebuild. I felt like i would have more suitors now when everyone thinks they have a shot, then after the 1st season or 2. And I think so far I've been proven to be right.

I can kinda see your point, but in 1-2 years you'd have drafted prospects, so you wouldn't be completely rebuilding. I mean, it's your team.

And look at my team now, I'm going to have a sick system and I'll be ready to go by 2012/2013 for a long time

It took me 9 sim years to make up for breaking down my "older" core when I took over in S3SL...

I've made a bunch of playoffs now, but it took a while

Just so everyone knows: I haven't entered this trade into the game yet and won't be up for this upload after ST. I have to figure out how to trade picks. It will be up for the opening day sim and teams can send roster moves as if it is in.

You could always enter the trade, make a note that my 1st round pick goes to CJ (or put it on the draft order thread), have CJ's pick be made by my team in the game, then have my team release that player and CJ's team sign him to a MLC. That's how some leagues have done it.
