    Hooray for ridiculous Chacin contracts!

And Travis Hafner deserves at least $15 mil. C'mon now.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

    and Brazelton's already gone, too

Actually, Brownie made that offer today for some reason.

SP 2.0 Sergio Mitre is still available though...better than any of the other SP options in FA...he wouldn't take much either.

Re: Free Agent Period 3 Signings

I know I over paid for Wright A LOT! Tejada at 33 years old got $16.5 over 4 years. I originally was going to offer Wright about $17.5 over 7 years. Which was $122.5 total which over 5 years is $24.5 million per. So I figured I'd just make sure I got him and offered him $25 per over 5 years for a total of $125 million which would be $17.85 over 7 years.

When he didn't sign with my after the 1st round I got nervous. So in case anyone decided to match me I offered an extra 300k per year to beat anything similar to mine. Which would make it about $18 million per over 7. But I decided to give him more per year over 5 years so I can get out of his contract sooner and then extend him at a reasonable price (if his talent holds up).

Glad I passed... not much out there when you have 6 million dollars to spend. I'll just build from within this season.

25.3 million at 5 years is crazy for Wright. I remember the day I took on Pujols and I was screwed for 4 years. I hope this signing won't bite you in the ass. Some crazy money being spent!

I cannot believe no one bid on Dan Johnson. I would have offered him 7-9M if Pronk wasn't around. I bid 14.1M on Chacin but the bastard didn't like me. I think $3M was too much for Gathright, but he refused $2.5M. FA has sooooo many variables with the A.I. always a factor and then the unpredictableness of the other GM's money wise and target wise. Johnson, Berkman, and Chen are three steals. Great Job to the people who signed them.

I offered Johnson less than he wanted...IIRC he wanted approximately $1.3 mil or so for 2 years...it didn't really matter because I wasn't going to offer him a lot. I figured since no one made an offer I could get him cheaply. I just wanted an upgrade at backup 1B. It's not my fault that no one else made an offer to him. He'll also be injury insurance, but he's not really going to play a lot. He'll give me a nice bat off the bench.

I currently have the 2nd (Wright) and 7th (Helton) highest paid players in the game, but I'm only 6th in payroll. I won't be doing much in upcoming free agencies, but I'm hoping as long as I can extend my own people. That I should have a contender over those 5 years I gave him.
