    Griffey

I traded for Griffey before the season started. If I remember correctly he was a 3.5 overall. I knew that he crashed in another OOTP 6.5 league after being injured. I thought if I DH'd him he might retain his hitting skills. Obviously I was wrong to the tune of 37 million and the loss of Benson and Hawkins... which is the least of my worries. Please advise as to which option you would take if you were me in this situation.

He won't regain his ratings, but DH him anyway.

Forget him, and hope he retires before you have to pay him his entire contract.

I haven't seen his ratings but I would say DH him. I would hate to have that kind of money sitting in Triple A, and there is probably no chance he can regain his ratings.

I don't think you are going to make the playoffs this year, so you are trying to build the best team for the future. The question is if you think that Griffey can be a main part. If so, you have to play him and hope he regains his ratings. If not, you have to decide if your prospects need more time in AAA or can play in MLB.

I'd DH him if I were you. He still has decent power, does he not? He could be useful in a non-fielding role, or as a spot starter. Other than that, I don't see what you could do. I'm in the same position with Jose Valentin. He was decent, then he died ratings-wise, only he doesn't make millions

Advice to anyone taking on players at the age of 34+, you are high risk at that player declining any given sim unless the pitcher and hitters aging speed is adjusted in the engine setup.

So basically, place him on waivers and once he clears let him rot in AAA, unless you can find another player to put in a deal to move him to another team with the financial space to afford the remainder of his contract.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett
