How much should the expansion teams start with?

$15Mil and $25Mil seem to be the most popular options.

i felt like being different and just said 15 mill. but i wouldn't mind 25. I was all for 20 mill, but I guess 25 is decent.

A payroll that means an average salary of 600,000 to me seems extremely low...and pretty much would set the strategy for many expansion draft lists (if they put anyone over 8 million on the list, they cannot be drafted without a team being unable to field a 25 man roster (average salary of the other 24 = 291,666.66, meaning above league minimum).

Obviously, not in the league = not voting, but considering the only team in this league close to that amount is Alaska, who had 38 wins last year...seems kind of unfair to the new team to put it at 15 mil.

Exactly! At league minimum, the payroll would be $7,500,000. We aren't talking about giving a team enough money to be competetive this year, but $15Mil would cripple the team for years to come.

I thought this was the cash teams got before their payrolls were counted and they got things like merchandising revenue, attendance revenue, TV contract cash, etc. If it's not, then I'm all for giving the expansion teams more. Otherwise, I think $15 million sounds good.

Whatever amount is agreed upon is all they will get to start off with. They will receive it in the form of their tv contracts. Once the season starts, it's up to them to bring in revenue such as merchandising and attendance.

This is the cash they start off with... we are all maxed out at 20 MIL... this is their buffer... they will still have to do their attendance revinue etc to pay for the salaries and all during the year..... why give them more than our agreed to max?? 15 is plenty of a free buffer

The 15Mil wouldn't be their cash. It would be in the form of their tv contract. $10Mil local and $5Mil national for a one year contract. I think that is a good deal for an expansion team, even though everybody else has a better deal than that. So if $15Mil is the amount, then that leaves no extra cash for the expansion team. I don't know if the game will assign them a tv deal, which is why I'm setting it up this way now. The rest should come in time.

$15Mil is winning though, so it will probably end up being $15Mil.

Well, 25 mil is winning now...

I wish it was, because I think that is the best option, but it isn't.

Dam, Metspr, and mntwnsfn all voted for 15K in the other poll. This is a different poll, but with the same question, so I can't ignore their votes... it wouldn't be right. I just started a new poll, because these two options seemed to need a vote on by themselves. I don't want anyone to think that I'm trying to manipulate a poll by starting a new one when I don't like the result. So, if RockSports prefers 15K, then we are tied 8-8.

Actually, it doesn't really matter to me. After reading all the posts, 25 mill is fine for them.

Is that a vote for 25Mil then instead of $15Mil?

Ok...then we are at 9-7 in favor of $25Mil.

btw...if we go with $25Mil, it will be broken down this way.

    $10Mil cash
    $15Mil broadcasting revenue
