1 and 3 is what I originally thought as well. I like the above and below .500 idea also.

The reason that I brought up option 4 is because GMs will be able to import a historical player in their prime as opposed to an amateur draft type of player. So at least a 1st round pick should be forfeited for one of these players. It sounds like that's the most popular option...a first rounder at least for the best teams.

What's the difference between 1 and 3, and just 3?

    EDIT: Never mind, got it.

By the way, I think the person who came up with the above and below .500 idea should get some points for their team.

We will be adding the option to add historical players. This is how it will work.

Once a team reaches 150 points, they will have the option of any aquiring a historical player of their choice. Be very careful when you make your choice, because you cannot change your mind once you post your selection. It would be impossible to post the ratings for every single historical player so I won't even try. If you do your research, you won't need to see the ratings anyways. When you make your selection, you must give me the name of the player, and the year that you want imported. I will then use the lahman's database to import the player into OOTP. Those that have OOTP are probably familiar with the lahman's database, because it is the database that is used to import players into the game to be used for historical leagues. I will import the player as is from the database, and will not touch the ratings. The way lahman's works is that there each player is rated by the season that you choose. For example, if you choose Roger Maris and 1961, then you would get the Roger Maris that hit 61 home runs that year. His ratings will reflect that year and that year only. If you choose any other year, well, you probably won't be happy with his "power" rating. This is where the research comes in. Do you choose a players best season even if it was later in his career, or do you go with a player that was more succesful in his youth?

    Here are a few rules.

    1) If your record is above .500 then you will lose a 1st round pick to add your historical player. If your record is below .500, then you will lose a 2nd round pick.

    2) As soon as you reach the 150 post milestone the record from the previous season will be used to determine which draft pick you lose.

    3) You cannot choose a historical player that has ever played in the SBSL. You cannot choose a historical player that played at any point after 1990.

    4) The draft pick that is forfeited will be placed into a lottery. Only the bottom 10 teams from the previous season will be able to participate in the lottery.

Nice job with rule 4. I like it better than the idea I was kicking around a couple of days ago.

Maybe its just me, but I don't like Rule 4. I think the weaker teams have been helped enough already. It's time for them to step up and do the thing we call win games. With their own "skill" mind you.
