That trade makes no sense. The Senators just signed Hossa to a 3 year extension.

Probably as rare as Chris Osgood being claimed off waivers.
The Senators signed Hossa to a below market deal, so it leads me to believe that the team owner is a cheapskate.
Hossa got the same deal as Naslund and, only players who signed for more are Iginla, Thornton, Lecavalier, Pronger, Scott Niedermayer, Khabibulin, Sakic, and Blake
others who are between 6-7.8 million (salaries decresed from the new CBA)
Jagr
Tkachuk
Lidstrom
Guerin
Yashin
Sundin

I'd take Hossa over all the players except maybe Lidstrom on your second list.
Tampa needs a goalie, right?
TB signed Sean Burke for 1 year, 1.6 millOriginally Posted by realmofotalk

If Heatley signed for only 13.5 mill, then you have to wonder why Atlanta traded Heatley, who's younger, cheaper, and has a bigger upside than Hossa, even though it cost the Senators its franchise player.
Heatley's eye (from puck in the eye in europe) and knee (the synder accident) injuries could have have scared off ATL, also I'm hearing heatley wanted a fresh start else whereOriginally Posted by realmofotalk

I don't even like hockey, but I am pissed Atlanta traded off Heatley.
Damn it, Hossa is the man.
