Wow. Did not see this coming since Edmonton is a small-market team. Even though the cap is in place, I didn't expect Edmonton giving big bucks to Pronger.

Eric Brewer is no booby trap either.

Edmotnon was put in to a great position after the new CBA
11 players signed for 12 million, with the RFA left the payroll would have been 20-22 million and that would leave 10-12 million left for the oilers to spend on players

Edmonton will still need to aquire a 1st line centre and a goalie to spilt time with Ty Conklin

Mmmm. Eric Brewer on my least favorite team. Now I get to cry because Eric Brewer kicks ass.

This trade resembles the AJ Burnett for Chacin rumor. Chacin doesn't have AJ's upside, but why trade the younger and much cheaper player, who in this trade is Brewer?

the new cba will hurt alot of teams. My two teams are not doing much of anything. Dallas and minny because of the new agreement. the bigger team will need to let top talent go.

Adam foot signed with Columbus. Your Oilers just got pronger. The only thing I will say is the league will be alot more even. I dont see any teams below 500.

Edmonton's trying to capitalize on the fact that lots of teams are in salary trouble, and they're looking to make a run at the Cup this year.

Brewer's going to be spectacular, but it's hard to keep future spectacularity when there's such a wide open gap to the Cup right now.
