    Rockets/Nets Discussing Carter Trade

Sources: New Jersey Nets, Houston Rockets discuss Vince Carter trade - ESPN

Currently the teams are haggling over what the Nets will get in return for Carter. Sources say the Rockets have been pushing a trade that sends Tracy McGrady to the Nets for Carter and Trenton Hassell. However, the Nets are balking at taking back McGrady's contract.

McGrady is slated to make $22 million during the 2009-10 season. However, McGrady's contract comes off the books in the summer of 2010. The deal would save the Nets roughly $21 million over the life of Carter's contract. The Nets would then have around $30 million in cap room to use in a stellar free-agent market.

Sources say the Nets are also concerned about McGrady's health. McGrady has already missed 18 games this year. The Houston Chronicle reported on Tuesday that McGrady missed Monday's practice and will not play against the Nets as he prepares to seek more opinions on his problematic left knee.

The Nets have countered with a proposal that would send Carter and Josh Boone to the Nets for a combination of Ron Artest, Shane Battier, Luther Head and Carl Landry.
    Hmm, let's see.

Dealing McGrady to get Vince or Battier, Artest, Landry and Head?

Uhh. I'd much rather get rid of T-Mac, but that's why it's the Rockets offering T-Mac and the Nets offering Carter for the package. I doubt anything will get done, but I'll be one pissed off son of a mother ****er if they do the bigger deal.

Get McGrady the hell out of Houston, please.

It would be so awesome if someone did. Anyone. Even for Malik Allen or something.

The whole point of the Nets trading Carter is to get rid of salary. They're not going to take back a large contract, that would defeat the purpose

McGrady is probably the most untradable player in the NBA right now with his declining performance and injury history

I realize this. But he does them absolutely no good in developing a supporting cast around this steller free agent signing, which is their goal right now.

    YEAH NYG!

Oh and by the way, McGrady went down for the year today and is having surgery. **** him.

If the Rockets still trade for Vince, I'll be pissed.

The rumored deal right now is Vince, Ryan Anderson and Eduardo Najera for Carl Landry, Shane Battier, Luther Head and Ron Artest.

    Re: Rockets/Nets Discussing Carter Trade

Team owner Les Alexander said before Tuesday's game that the Rockets would not try to deal McGrady before Thursday's trade deadline. Alexander also said he still believes the 29-year-old McGrady is a key component to making the Rockets contenders again.
    Idiot.

This makes me wonder which is MORE true. Astros owner Drayton McClane being a huge ass tightwad or Rockets owner Les Alexander being more of a moron.

Clearly Aaron Brooks will bridge that gap in the 33-52 record without TMac. Victory.
