Rafa's first "VAMOS!" scream comes out at 1-0 in the 2nd. From now on, it's all Nadal.

At least these two are playing at a much quicker and more tolerable pace than the Williams were. This could be over before 2 AM.

The Fish got fried. A decent run for him this year. Looking forward to Nadal/Murray on Saturday, but tonight's ARod/Djokovic battle should be epic.

    Re: U.S. Open

ARod loses again, and choked when it matters most. Not only was his usually reliable serve failing him in the first two sets, but his forehand was also very weak and his backhand was even more pathetic and mediocre than it already usually is. The first two sets were about as much of a blowout as you will ever see between two players in the top 10. Roddick was that bad.

To his credit, he battled back to win the 3rd set when his serve started working again, but he also should have won the 4th set but choked that away and even had the lead in the tiebreaker and also choked that when he misplayed at least three easy points.

Not only that, but in his post-match on-court interview, Djokovic said that the audience was against him (the NY crowd was yelling during his serves which is totally out of protocol), said that Roddick was out of line for calling him out for his injuries, etc. Most of the crowd left quickly and whoever was left booed Djokovic. But if you listened to Roddick's press conference earlier, ARod was being a classless a.sshole. What he said:
    Q. When asked about his (Djokovic's) injuries today, mentioning the right ankle as opposed to the left ankle, the other day --
ANDY RODDICK: Isn't it both of them? And a back and a hip?

    Q. And when he said there are too many to count.
    ANDY RODDICK: And a cramp.

    Q. Do you get the sense right now that he is...
    ANDY RODDICK: Bird flu.

    Q. Lot of things. Beijing hangover.
    ANDY RODDICK: Yeah.

    Q. He's got pretty long list of illness.
ANDY RODDICK: Anthrax. SARS. Common cough and cold.

    Q. Got a lot of things going on with him.
    ANDY RODDICK: Sure.

    Q. Do you think he's bluffing?
ANDY RODDICK: No, I mean, I'm sure --

    Q. The way you're saying it, almost means you feel like...
ANDY RODDICK: No, if it's there, it's there. There's just a lot. You know, he's either quick to call a trainer or he's the most courageous guy of all time. I think it's up for you guys to decide.

    Re: U.S. Open

    Semifinal picks -

Tomorrow: Dementieva over Jankovic in 3 sets; Serena over Safina in straight sets. I don't like how Jankovic has been playing and Dementieva has been absolutely on fire with winning gold in Beijing and playing strongly here. Jankovic has been kind of sloppy. For the other one, no one touches Serena who is clearly on a mission. She has been hitting the ball great and was really pumped up when she saved 10 set points in the second set against her sister. Plenty of fist pumps in that one.

Saturday: Nadal over Murray in 4 sets; Federer over Djokovic in 5 sets. Should be two great matches here. Nadal will be too much for Murray although Murray played great in the first two sets against DP, but was kind of tentative with his shots after that. Nadal though started off a bit slow in the first 3-4 games against Fish, but he got stronger as the night wore on. Nadal makes his first US Open final. Other match should be fantastic: I was really impressed with Djoker's play tonight so it should go 5.

As for reefer boy's prediction, there's no Roddick left and no unknown players left. Shocking, I know.
