NBA Bulls dip into the analyst pool.

Hired Doug Collins. Dougie was once hired by Michael Jordan to guide Kwame Brown and the wizards to the promised land. That worked out real well.

Now he'll likely get Beasley and some underachievers to have fun with. I'm betting in less than two years, he's back with TNT or ESPN.

Speculation is that he might choose one of the former candidates as an assistant coach (Mark Jackson?) and groom him to be their long-term head coach. Or not..

Has grooming someone like that ever worked out before? Jason Garrett, Jimbo Fisher. I am looking at you.

Its not like this guy hasn't coached before. He has coached the Bulls once before, the Pistons and the fore mentioned Bulls.

He did ok with the bulls, he was fired in Detroit and Washington.
    Not encouraging.

Something new beats something recycled. And he's never achieved anything worth talking about except reaching the eastern conference semis... with Michael Jordan.

I'm shocked by this move, I really am...I don't know why Doug Collins suddenly changed his mind, or why the Bulls think this will help. Oh well.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

It's one thing for teams to recycle coaches from others' staffs like the Sonics did when they hired P.J. Carlesimon from San Antonio. It's another to dig them up from the broadcast booth. I mean, this must have been MJ's and now John Paxson's thought process:

"Wow, Doug sounds really smart when he's giving Gregg Popovich pointers! I need to hire him before the whole world knows about his brilliant Kia keys to the game."

If I remember correctly Collins coached the Bulls with Paxson on the team. So he knows what he's like from a players perspective. He also made the playoffs every year with the Bulls. The last season he coached the Bulls they made the Eastern Conference Finals.

We all know they'll take Rose. He'll blossom into a superstar. Then they'll fire him, and hire Phil Jackson. I don't mind Collins but D'Antoni was VERY VERY VERY perfect for the Bulls job. We had everything he needed to run his system.

Bill Cartwright would be a better fit
