He sure does, I'm surprised he didn't get a GM job sooner after he was fired from San Jose years ago.

They're not many GM's out there I would take over Lombardi.

Lombardi got a raw deal even though he dealt away aging vets such as Nolan, Ragnarsson, McGillis, and Marchment, as the Sharks owner requested him to cut payroll during the disappointing 2002-03 season, although to give himself more time Lombardi shamelessly fired Sutter earlier.

Lou Lamoriello ranks atop of the list and Lombardi should be at the level right below.

Another trade was done in the NHL

Centre Mike Ribeiro and a 6th round pick to Dallas

Defensemen Janne Niinimaa and a 5th round pick to Montreal

    http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=179424&hubname=

I re-arranged most of the article, just to let you know.

MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens have acquired defenceman Janne Niinimaa and a fifth-round pick in 2007 from the Dallas Stars, in return for forward Mike Ribeiro and a sixth-round pick in 2008.

Ribeiro, 26, is coming off a disappointing 2005-2006 season, during which he scored 51 points and posted a minus-6 rating, down from the 65 points and plus-15 rating he had produced in 2003-2004.

The 6-foot, 177-pound centre was a second-round pick of the Canadiens in 1998 and has scored 153 points in 276 career games.

Niinimaa, 31, struggled last season, putting up 16 points and a minus-12 rating combined with the New York Islanders and Dallas Stars. Acquired in January for John Erskine, Niinimaa ended up being a healthy scratch at times late in the year.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Finnish blueliner has recorded 356 points and a plus-56 rating over a 10-year career with Philadelphia, Edmonton, the New York Islanders and Dallas.

Niinimaa will earn $2.508 million on the final year of his contract this season while Ribeiro is on a one-year deal worth $1.9 million.

Ribeiro said he was shocked by the move.

''I'm disappointed and sad at the same time,'' the Montreal native said. ''I didn't expect this now.
    Related Info

''There were rumours last year that I'd be traded, but I didn't think about it this year. I just concentrated on getting ready for the season. I guess Montreal wanted defence and Dallas wanted a centre. It's a great city for me. No winter. No snow. So I'll be happy.''

I love the move for Montreal, they get rid of a wuss, and make room for real hockey players like Tomas Plekanec.

Dallas just gets worse and worse to me, 1st Eric Lindros and now Mike Ribeiro , and what's more is that Ribeiro and Lindros might actually play on the same line together. talk about a gentle giant who gets hit anytime he will get injury and a small midget who's a big wuss.

New Jersey gets out of cap trouble but its costs them a 1st round pick which was a lot than "some" devils fans thought it would cost to move a big contract.

    http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=179623&hubname=
The New Jersey Devils acquired left wing Alexander Korolyuk and defenceman Jim Fahey from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for defenceman Vladimir Malakhov, and a conditional first-round pick in the NHL Entry Draft.
I don't want to explain this whole situation anymore my head hurts, go ask mission I'm sure he knows the details of the whole thing.

Short form, NJ is out of cap trouble for now.

Lindros was the biggest prima donna in pro hockey but he was not a gentle giant. As a power forward during his heyday, he was one of best bodycheckers in the league and yes, also delivered his share of cheap shots.

Aside from their fantasy teams, Habs fans haven't much experience with the term "goal scorer" since Recchi and Damphousse were traded. However, they seem to be high on Andrei Kostistyn.

He's a gentle giant now who can't hit or be hit without an injury happening to himself.

what a bunch of chokers. That's what they are. Jesus Christ. 4-2 lead with 5 mins to go in the 3rd and they lose 5-4, goddamnit. Alex Kovalev even had Ryan Miller beat in the shootout and Kovalev freaking hits the crossbar. I'm done with hockey.

Flyers' GM Bobby Clarke resigns, Hitchcock fired

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- General manager Bob Clarke resigned and coach Ken Hitchcock was fired in a dramatic shakeup Sunday, with the Philadelphia Flyers off to their worst start in 17 years.

Assistant John Stevens was appointed head coach and former Flyers coach Paul Holmgren was promoted from assistant general manager to interim general manager -- the latest combination in an attempt to end a 31-year Stanley Cup drought.

The Flyers are 1-6-1 and have the fewest points in the NHL.
    Clarke: I didn't deliver.
