    2. I feel as though.. at times.. people just don't let themselves have fun.. because they are really insecure with their lives.. and hide such fact on a message board, whether it's..creating account after account after being deleted or banned... or claiming to be God.. etc. etc. Why must people..hide behind text and font Dave?
People hide behind text because it is easy to do. People cannot see your own insecurities, you fears, etc, from behind letters. You can portray yourself how you want to be. You can be a big asshole, even if in reality you are a pansy. Nobody is going to pop you in the mouth. When people tell you off behind the keyboard, they don't see you look down to the ground in insecurity or blush. Hiding behind the screen eliminates the insecurity. Some will say that is good and some will say it is bad. I think it is bad, because social skills involve direct interaction with others. Insecurities are not always a bad thing and they can only truly be dealt with when you are actually WITH others.

    3. I want to know.. 3 things you'd immediately change in this country, no limits.. no limits at all.. if you were the President..of the free country. And do you think.. Sarah Palin is really a man sent..by the KGB?
Personally... I would change to have term limits in congress and the senate. Too many old timers who are entrenched in power and are clueless to the real world. That entrenched power helps corrupt things, whether it be lobbies, connections, under dealings, etc.... unfortunately, they would have to vote on any such change, so even if I were Prez, it probably would never get done.
I think Palin is just someone who was thrown into the spotlight with too little preparation. I like a lot about her, but she has already been demonized and did not attack that demonization very effectively. I think she will be in the 'new breed' of conservatives, but I think that she really won't be a front runner in the future. She was a door opener, others will walk thru.

    Prov's Questions
    1) If you could ban 3 members from S3F (fake/double accounts are included with original member and count as 1 member), who would they be and why?
Well... considering career, dad duties, and dating a woman steadily for the first time since my divorce, I don't get to post too much beyond the SIM Leagues... so... in no particular order
mntwinsfan - He's not going to win a SIM title anyway
Crazy Eights - Has so many problems with the SIM league files.. needs a punishment
mission - for shock value LOL

    2) Why did you choose to join the Army instead of the other branches of military service? What was the deciding factor?
Quite frankly... no particular reason beyond it was the office in the recruiter station that actually had someone sitting in there when I walked in... Knowing what I know now about the training and all, I would probably do Air Force if I had to choose again.. but no regrets... I met my best friends in the service... I married my ex who was a fellow soldier, who gave me 2 great kids (no hard feelings)... My training has provided me a great career/job, and that is without a college degree

    3) How do you sleep at night knowing that you work(ed) for AOL? I forget if you're still there or not, but my question still stands. Explain and show your work.
They offered me my first opportunity in executive management. I had to take the shot. Unfortunately I joined at the wrong time and the departments I was in charge of were consolidated down in a downsizing effort. I knew it was working for the Dark Side, especially with my history in the Telecom/ISP world. But you don't pass up your first senior leadership opportunity.

    Browntown's questions

    1. Give me the 5 best Van Halen songs, IN ORDER
    1) Unchained - "One break, comin' up!"... That part of the song just epitomizes Diamond Dave
    2) Hot for Teacher - Great opening drum solo, and the video with Waldo and with Alex Van Halen attempting to dance. ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS
    3) Panama - The pinnacle of their success (No, I do not count the synthesized and overplayed "Jump as their pinnacle)...
    4) Runnin' With the Devil - Dave's best shreaking in a song.
    5) Eruption - What Eddie's guitar playing is all about....
    2. You have to give up Baltimore in S3SL and one of these users must take them over: DirtyKash, love_that_reefer, brewcrewrock, GiantsFanatic, padrefanforever. Who gets them and why?
Well.. reefer and I have diametrically opposed rules for life and outlooks on life, so he's the only one I can definitely say is a 'no'... I would have to have DK take over. We've shared laughs, seems to take the good and the bad, and IMHO would take it for what it is supposed to be, a fun distraction...

    3. Who are the 3 most incompetent people in the Orioles organization? (players, coaches, owners, etc)
How can you NOT start with Peter Angelos? They guy has turned a once proud organization into a laughingstock. Probably the worst owner, this side of Al Davis
Mike Flanagan was a great pitcher in his day and a great Oriole in uniform. As an executive for a baseball team, he stinks. His FA signing decisions are piss poor, his trades (besides the Jones trade) have made little sense at all.
And with Flanny comes Lee MacPhail. He's responsible for scouting the pros we go after. If I see another Hernandez or Payton signing, I'll have to send him and Flanny dead-fish-o-grams

    ltr's questions
    1. Why don't you contribute more in the baseball forums? You seem like a smart man.
As I stated in an earlier question. Time is a precious commodity... I have 2 kids to raise as a single father now, and that is the #1 priority.. Being back on the dating scene takes up some time as well... Lord knows I post more at work that I do from home, as a distraction for myself on breaks... I combine that with the lesser passion I have for the O's in their current incarnation... I still take my girls to O's games every summer. I still WANT them to do well... But it is really hard to post about them when it is oh-so-bad... I don't just want to make posts to bash management and ownership... And I have not found too many other baseball stories in the past 2 years that peaked my interest enough to really talk about...
    2. Best and worst places you have ever had to take a shit.
Best place.. hmmm.. The first shit I ever took in the first house I bought... Nothing like taking a shit on the shitter you now own...
Worst place... Exit just before Hagerstown off of I-70. I had to go SOOOOOOO bad... I had to sacrifice a pair of socks and the bottom portion of my t-shirt for that one. It was that incident that made me ensure I always have napkins or a roll of paper towels in the car.
    3. If you could be any criminal, who would it be?
D.B. Cooper... the perfect crime, an amazing story about the crime and the get away. The legend and people still looking for the money.... Not that I would be a criminal, but that is a legend that did not hurt anyone physically.. Other criminals are 'infamous' and/or just downright zits on the ass of society. This person, whomever he is/was, has transformed into American folk legend....

    KoZ's questions

    1) What the hell is up with Hollywood in making the movie Valkyrie and none of the big name actors, American and British, HAVE NO GERMAN ACCENTS when it's a damn movie about Hitler and Germans? It's not just Tom Cruise, it's everyone. I bet even the dude who plays Hitler has no German accent. Would you go see a movie about Abraham Lincoln if Liam Neeson didn't use an American accent? O_O
I think it would actually be hokey if they would use German accents for this... The premise is that we are understanding the native language of the characters. It is not like we would notice a "German accent" if we were German and they were speaking German

    2) TPSL Curtis Granderson vs. S3SL Justin Huber in a steel cage only one man leaves alive death match, who wins and why?
Huber was simply a beast... Granderson is Tony Gwynn before he ballooned up to 400 pounds... If Granderson would bulk up he would stand a chance. As it is, Huber bashes him over the head at the opening bell, with one of his multiple solid gold gloves... Match over in 12 seconds...

    3) Rank the following from best to worst:
    1) O.J. Simpson is kicked out of the Hall of Fame. - Seems only fitting to me
    2) DirtyKash changes his name to Sweet Petunia. - This would cause me much laughter for weeks
    3) OOTP became outlawed, thusly ending sim leagues. - I would suddenly have some more free time and would probably get more work done
    4) Prodigy hires you to be a consultant. - If the money were good
    5) Love that Reefer reveals that he is actually Bon Bon/Turn 2/Snuffalughjwhatever and that he is really a she. - It would be a shame that Bon-Bon would not be the interesting girl that she is... But the guy smokes enough ganja, an action like that to settle his giggle need would not shock me...
    6) Barry Bonds signs with the New York Yankees. - The guy should never be in baseball again
    7) Ron Santo makes the Hall of Fame. - Why in hell should he be?
    8) Saber owned S3F. - Can't imaging this thing not being mission's

    ljshorty's questions

    1) We all know that you're one of the...more experienced people on S3F. First off, what led to your adoption of "wet behind the ears and similac on the breath" as your catchphrase? Second, explain your disdain for "young people" in general, and specifically me?
    Ahhh... the dreaded 2 parter....
"wet behind the ears and similac on the breath" is a pretty standard military phrase used to scold inexperienced soldiers who think they know it all and who disregard the strength of experience.. It is a pet peeve of mine where brash youngsters have a self-appointed know-it-all attitude as well, and it comes out when dealing with that also... As for the disdain of young people, it is more of a disdain for their attitudes more than a disdain for them or any individual just for being young... Yes, I was a bit brash when I was young as well, but as I have grown in age and wisdom (and there is a HUGE difference between wisdom and intelligence) I have realized the error of my younger ways. I tend to have more affinity towards those youngsters who tend to respect the experience of those who have 'been there and done that'. It shows an ability and a willingness to step beyond their delusions of grandeur that they are the second coming of Einstein and that they have all the answers. Until a person actually lives in, has experience in, and has overcome obstacles in the real world; even with all their "intelligence", they really don't know shit from shinola. There is a huge difference between 'ideas', 'book smarts', and actually actually making the accomplishment thru experience. If more youth would accept this fact and respect experience, we'd be a lot better off...
    2) If you could kick 3 people out of S3F permanently, but in return you had to leave the site as well, would you accept, and if so, which 3 would you kick out?
I would accept any deal where I made an agreement to leave. If I had to do such a thing for the betterment of this place, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Self sacrifice is an under appreciated trait.... But there really is nobody that I deal with on here that is deserving of being kicked off....

    3) What was/is the best and worst parts of having served in the military?
The bonds you make with those you serve with are second only to the bonds you have with your kids. Knowing that you can and have to count on others, even in times of life and death, is not something you generally find out there every day. These 'buddies' will stick with you thru thick and thin. Granted, there will always be ones (even in the military) that will disappoint you. But the trust you have for those who earn your trust is second to none...
The worst part of the military was losing time with my youngest daughter when she was very young. I would have liked to have had the ability to be there for more. Overnight 14 hour shifts were really not conducive to bonding and having experiences with a young baby. Especially when my ex and I were both active duty. To ensure more parent time with our baby, we had to sacrifice our time together and change platoons and work different shifts. And it is not like you can call out sick in the Army if there is a conflict with schedules, child care, etc... I would advise ANYONE who is thinking about making a career of the military, to really put off having kids until after you are out... And if you are not making a career of it, to ensure that you have the STRONG support of your spouse and of a family that is willing to do ANYTHING to help out...

Re: Hot Seat Answers #67 - DiamondDave

    DK's questions

    1. Tell us the story of the most outrageous thing you have ever done while stoned.
Not into drugs. I don't get stoned. But... While drunk and in advanced military training... One weekend of Army style mega-partying led to an incident involving a 1/2gallon of Jack Daniels, boxer shorts that were wayyyyyy too loose, climbing a 40 foot flag pole on top of a motel to swipe a 'Knights Inn' flag, running along the motel roof to avoid the security guards, jumping off the 3 story structure into a 10 foot pool, and running thru Augusta Georgia to get to another hotel where a buddy was staying to show them the trophy flag I just swiped

    2. Studies have shown that dolphins are the smartest animal on earth. However, humans are the direct descendant of the monkey. So which is smarter, the dolphin or the monkey? And why do you think so?
I think this would be an easier question IF dolphins had extremities like hands or feet. Because a lot of what we deem as intelligent in monkeys/chimps is revolving around problem solving and tool use... We have also taught monkeys/chimps/gorillas to communicate some using some of our forms of communication. Signing, computer use, etc... So I would have to give the edge to the primates.. But who knows... as we advance how we CAN communicate with the whales/dolphins, we may realize that they are more advanced than we perceive now.... So long, and thanks for all the fish!

    3. Rank the following kinds of porn from most enjoyable to least enjoyable and give reasons why you ranked them the way you did:
    1) Exhibitionism/Voyeur - Always something intriguing about catching someone or being caught...
    2) Solo - Something that is really erotic when a woman gets herself off
    3) Interracial - I guess it depends on what you consider interracial and what you personally find attractive. Some may consider me in an interracial relationship right now, since I am dating an Asian, but some do not for whatever reason.. And certain physical traits are simply just not attractive to me, and some of that could be considered 'racial' by some...
    4) Orgy - Seen a bit of it and it catches your eye... Tough I find it disgusting if I have a woman who is actually interested in doing something like that...
    5) Gay/Lesbian - I have to rank this lower than I thought because they are lumped together... I'm not into anything or interested in anything revolving around homosexual men at all... And really, knowing that women are actually lesbian and would have no interest in me, does not make lesbian porn that appealing to me. Though seeing multiple women naked is never a bad thing
    6) Midget - I gotta be careful with how I answer this one... the woman I am dating is 4'11" LOL .... but I really don't find 'little people' physically attractive

And from here down you could rank them all together.. because I have zero interest whatsoever... though I guess you could rank bestiality as last on the list, because that is just utterly disgusting

    BDSM/Bondage
    Granny
    Fisting
    BBW (overweight/obese women)
    Bestiality

    Foster's questions

    1. If not a "Diamond" what other mineral would you choose to represent yourself?
Well.. diamond always seemed to fit, above the Van Halen fan-dom, for my hard headedness... so I would choose something like silver, because my hair is graying, and I've always been pretty good but not the best at what I do....

    2. Diamond Dave's Mexican Style Restaurants Have you ever been, and what is your impression if you have.
    Never even heard of them

    3. OMG, "Diamond" Dave, you've just won a contract with the UFC!!!
So assuming this happened, describe your style of fight.
Well.. I'm kinda old to be fighting now... so in line with the old adage "Old age and treachery always overcome youth and skill"... my style would simply be dirty... any disgusting or treacherous way to gain an advantage... and I would have to go for the quick knockout/submission, because I don't have the stamina of my youth... I'd either gain the victory in under a minute, or lose in the first round because I'm exhausted or out of gas...

Re: Hot Seat Answers #67 - DiamondDave

    mission's questions

    1. Given the fact that I've know you for quite a while Dave, a lot of us here have, and you are a bit more seasoned with experiences with those of the female persuasion, ie marriage, what is the best bit of advice you can give any of us young guys for when we tie the knot?
Interesting... I am actually glad you did not ask this while I was in the end of my marriage... I think I have learned a lot more by actually going thru the breakup and divorce... I was blinded a bit as to what I did wrong, as so many people tend to do....
Self sacrifice is the key. But many of us, me included, sometimes get the priorities of this sacrifice wrong.... Many husbands/dads try to work for more, provide more, etc... It's the hunter/gatherer complex. The funny thing is that the sacrifice you need is of the personal nature. Taking down the boundaries of your likes and dislikes. Spending the 10 minutes playing 'Freeze tag' with the family means much more than bringing home an extra 10K. Putting forth the effort to go with your wife to an art gallery means more than bringing her home some perfume. Changing your wife's oil at 11PM when you are still awake but tired, so she don't have to spend 30 minutes at Jiffy Lube, means more than $45 so that she can pay for that oil change. Swapping the 'normal duties' to break your wife's monotony shows you care more than just the idle words of saying 'I love you'. (AKA do the damn dishes, fool.. weed her flower garden.... you take the kids to the doctor's appointment when they're sick.. etc)... everyone always says that they KNOW that it is the little things that count.. .but when it comes down to it, they still rarely do them.... slap yourself in the face when you notice it, when you see the signs of frustration, or when someone actually have the nerve to tell you that they see it... swallow your pride, don't be defensive, and truly change to do the little things that mean a lot

    2. You have the chance to see one concert before you die, who are the acts (opener(s), headliner, etc) and what is the final song that is played of the concert?
Well... I will take this as being realistic.. instead of saying that I want to see all 4 original Beatles play... which we know cannot happen...
I've seen a lot of amazing shows and amazing performers in my day... and one thing I share with my kids is a love for Ozzy's music... I've already taken them to see Ozzy in concert and it was a memory I will cherish forever, to see the happiness they had on their faces....
So... I wish to be able to see Ozzy's final concert with my kids... No opening band... Front row center (since Ozzy spends 85% of the concert up front and center)... Ozzy interacts with my kids with something as simple as a hand slap, wink, or a thumbs up.. My kids and I experience Ozzy signing the poignant "Road to Nowhere" as his final song, him telling the audience one final time that he loves them, and tearfully waves goodbye to his fans and his music career

    3. Picture the best sandwich that man can make. What would be on that sandwich? Don't omit any detail (ie, bread type, hot/cold/toasted.)
Thin sliced grilled sourdough bread brushed lightly with garlic butter infused mayonnaise. Fresh baby bib lettuce. A slight dab of jalapeno relish. A jumbo lump crab cake cut in half sits in the middle of the sandwich. Over top of the crab cake you have 2 slices of honey cured bacon, not too crisp and not too fatty. Garnish on the side with some true German potato salad and a super crisp spicy garlic dill pickle. A fresh tall class of iced white tea with 3 lemon wedges. Sit back and enjoy.

    Dry's questions

#1: Rank the following 5 Orioles, but here's the trick: I want career stats for each:
    Adam Jones
    Matt Wieters
    Brian Matusz
    Jake Arrieta
    Luke Scott
    1) Wieters - The next slugger for the O's.. IMHO our next All Star... will probably be called up to the majors around the AS break... think he could put up S3SL Justin Huber numbers for a career... above a .300 career average.. 400 or more HR's
    2) Jones - Has the tools, but showed us little last year.... should be a perennial 25-25 .290-.300 guy.. so say a 15 year career... 375 HR and 375 SB
    3) Arrieta - Could be the best on this list though... I will have to see some at some Keys games this season... has the stuff, has not shown the smarts yet.... if he grows into his stuff could be a 3.85 career ERA kind of guy who could win 150 games in a 10 year career with this club... just hard to say
    4) Matusz - Inconsistent and was not worthy of his place in the draft... probably medium length career as a 3 or 4 starter.. main pitch is a fastball which is mediocre at best considering his size... career 4.65ERA, will never win 18 games in a season even if on a winning team
    5) Scott - I think Scott is nothing special at all... will be a journeyman throughout his career... Similar to Gary Roenicke in ability (without the cool helmet addition)... career .260 average would seem about right... an occasional 20+ HR season... but probably a platooner

#2: In the past two weeks I have had about $40 to my name and have thusly resorted to pinching food from one of our cafeterias, because security is lax.(True story) Often, I do so while high. A few times, I would return to the room of a kid we smoked with, ROTC, who told us stealing was ****ing terrible and that the Army would never stand for this. Same question, about your time in the Army, that I asked him: Do you think the Army would get more pissed about you stealing food if you couldn't afford to eat, or smoking gange. Explain how you would trick the Army to avoid penalty for a extra bonus.
Firstly... had $40 to your name and worried about food, yet still bought weed? STUPID....
Secondly... Both are frowned upon... but the military has a program called ADAPC that is there for people with drug and alcohol problems... and the military will work with you if you really work on things for yourself... but stealing is dishonor and is a violation of trust.. and with the Army providing either chow hall privileges or Separate Rations Pay, you should never be going hungry.... but now you have to think of your position within the military.. are you in possession of a clearance? If so, all bets are off... You violate your trust of confidence and do something like this in either case, and you cannot be trusted in the future.. Plus you are susceptible to blackmail or corruption from an enemy entity...

As for tricking the Army... IMHO that is against my code of honor... but there have been ones that used things such as AA or NA as a means of trying to avoid harsh punishment for alcohol and drub abuses... no tricking them about theft... there is no excuse, even if there is a supposed reason....

    ATLien's questions

1.)Will the world end in 2012?
Nah.... the world will be scheduled to end promptly 5 minutes before I would figure out the whole meaning of life and become entirely happy... and since I am nowhere close to that point, I think we're safe for a while
2.)If it does not, what's the first thing you will do?
business as usual, bud... wake up... shit, shower, and shave... eat.. work... play with the kids... sleep
3.)If it does, what's the first thing that you will do?
Well.. if it ends.. not much you can do is there?? Unless you consider the afterlife... where in that case I will meet up with Jim Morrison and have a Scotch.... meet up with my Grandfather and sit down as men and talk as we never got to.... and look forward to an eternity playing with my kids

+rep, As another father on the S3F team. You would be surprised on how tough it is to break from your comfort zone when it comes to the work more, provide more stance.
