    March 7th Movie Pick 'Ums

    Two quick things:

    1) No The Libertine(Johnny Depp) on the list. It's in farrrr too few theatres to have a real chance to even make the top ten.

    2) Next week, things will be different since prolly the best film of 2006 (at least till X3 comes out) opens and it has minimal competition (an Amanda Bynes film). I'll think of a different aspect to earn points, stay tuned.

    The Hills Have Eyes
Starring: Aaron Stanford(Pyro in X2, X3) Ted Levine, Kathleen Quinland, Emilie de Ravin (Claire in Lost)
    Theatre Count: 2,700 ish
Things to know: This is a remake of an old Wes Craven film. And that was before Wes Craven really became famous. The director is Alexandre Aja, who made one of the most LOL "horror" films ever in High Tension. The film critic who I read his work every day just about, really beat this flick down. But I think it looks pretty creepy(watch the full trailer on Yahoo!). Aaron Stanford and Emilie de Ravin don't have the name draw yet to bring audiences by themselves.

    The Shaggy Dog
Starring: Tim Allen, Kristen Davis, Robert Downey Jr., and Danny Glover
    Theatre Count: 3,200
Things to know: Really, all you need to know is that it is a Disney film (remake allbeit) and Tim Allen is gold when it comes to kid flicks (The Santa Clause; Toy Story). Other than that, I am laughing on the inside that Robert Downey Jr. is in a Disney flick. Half the notorious cast has a rap sheet, and Kristen Davis spent many years getting banged on Sex and the City. Good thing parents usually don't know this and kiddies don't care.

    Failure to Launch
Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Sarah Jessica Parker, Zooey Deschanel, Kathy Bates and Justin Bartha. Oh, and TERRY BRADSHAW!
    Theatre Count: 2,800 ish
Things to know: Terry freaking Bradshaw is in a movie! And it's a romantic-comedy-chick flickish, there really hasn't been a "date" flick for a few weeks, unless you count.. Lol, just nevermind.

You're picking the top grosser of this list.
You have till 11:59 p.m. friday.
Scores have been updated. Good luck.

I want to see this one. Although, I don't think it will be too great honestly.

Which, interestingly enough, Porter was like the only one to not win last week.
