    Computer Help

I had a foster kid in my care for a couple of weeks and he downloaded something that has caused popups that I just can't find. I have my pop up blockers on and have run spyware to death and can not find what is causing the pop ups. Part of the problem is some of them are inappropriate with my 4 young kids constantly around. I've exhausted everything I can think of so any ideas and help is more than welcome. I do know that all the pop ups are from "gotofindit.com" if that means anything to anyone.

    Thanks,
    Sith

try booting it up in safe mode

(usally one of the function keys, or DELETE)

run your adware and spybot, and then run a virus scan.

all the windows files are ran and no startup files are started in the safe mode, so anything unusal will be caught.

if that doesn't work, then all other solutions point to reformat.

Thanks Ghettochild. I'll keep that in mind if I have the problem again. Someone found a conversation on the net with a guy who had the exact same problem and at least for now it's solved. I had something called "windrv" on my computer that was causing this and when I deleted it the popups stopped. The funny thing is that is the exact file I emailed my friend about this morning and am waiting to see what he found out.

Well no sooner than I think they are gone I get two while opening up my email. Go figure. I still haven't gotten any since or when closed the window and went back into my email. At least it's better.
