Attention! Honest assessment of Zach Galifianakis

Over the last couple of years, he's been front and center as the "popular" comedic actor, thanks in part to The Hangover making him more known, more mainstream so to speak. And in honor of the upcoming sequel to the Hangover, let's throw out a rate him thread.

Don't forget he's also had turns in Up In the Air, G-Force, Due Date, Dinner for Schmucks, and is set to voice Humpty Dumpty in the Puss 'n Boots spin off movie. Okay, we'll ignore the last bit.

Before The Hangover, he had a strong cult following while he did stand up comedy.

    Barney: Circle gets the square!

Re: Honest assessment of Zach Galifianakis

As I've only seen him in the Hangover and Due Date I don't think I can give an honest assessment.

But if I were to rate him only those two I'd rate him pretty high.

All of the new wave comedian...really dislike their style.

Dane Cook, this guy, pretty much anybody from Super Bad. Seth Rogan.

    Awful.

I have been a Galifianakis fan for a long time, way before he started making movies. His standup is great and a couple of his movies are hilarious!

The thing that gets me is the rash of "comedians" that are coming out now that model themselves the same way. Pudgy guys, with a beard, wearing plaid. I've seen this "guy" show up in a couple of commercials lately.

Also, Between Two Ferns is a great show.

Check out "Comedians of Comedy" if you want some good Zach attack! Both the show and the movie.

I don't know much about Zach's stand-up routine but comparing him to Seth Rogan is a bit harsh.

He's definitely MUCH better in the two movies I've seen him in.

Re: Honest assessment of Zach Galifianakis

I feel with a guy like Seth Rogan..he maybe can play a decent role. He's a decent actor. A lousy comedian. When he attempts to do both it's just god awful.

I compare Jim Carey, Robin Williams, Adam Sandler.

All the guys I grew up watching.

The new guys are just people trying to make a living out of being funny. It just doesn't work like that. You either have it or you don't. Todays "comedians" are no better than the kids I grew up around in high school who were labeled "funny" because they quoted the same six things from Family Guy over and over again.

In a lot of ways comparisons between good and bad rappers hold the same weight imo. You have the natural rapper who can look at their shoe and go on a tirade...then you have the Magnets how do they work variety. Guys who have all the dramatic effect and shock value around them but their words mean nothing.

ps Tim and Eric sucks my balls

He was hilarious on SNL recently, his opening monologue set the bar for all future monologues to measure against.
