TV Anyone plan to watch Kings tonight on NBC?

Definitely not for all types, but its basically drawing inspiration from the story of David and Goliath in a re-imagined future of what America would be like under a king. Ian McShane and Chris Egan star it, McShane of course was in Deadwood. Its a pretty big concept show and according to a few reviews I've read from TV critics, you don't truly get hooked until the 3rd or 4th episode.

NBC at 8 PM ET if anyone is interested.

It currently has a rating of 59 on Metacritic, which isn't terrible, but I'm not expecting too much. Does NBC put their shows online? I'll try to catch this on Hulu or something during the week.

Series. Nielsen ratings were not kind so that does not bode well for it. But I didn't really know what NBC expected by putting a show like that on in the middle of March once most people have decided on Sunday if they are going to watch a reality shows, housewives or cartoons on Sunday by then. Oh well, good news for Chuck coming back I suppose.

I have yet to watch it, but when I do I'll share some thoughts.

CBS will probably fail with their big midseason series, Harper's Island. Then again, CBS seems to do very well with crime drama/mystery. This even isn't a Bruckheimer thing.

CBS could air an hour of Kids Say The Darnedest Things repeats from years ago and it still would probably get a 3.0 18-49 demo. A CBS failure would be one of NBC's ratings jewels.

Anywho, I watched Kings. It is definitely not for everyone, but what is. Ian McShane was brilliant in his role as was Chris Egan. The episode was very epic in what it covered in two hours including the sets, story arc and "world" of the show. Some of the biblical references they hit you over the head with, but the show was really terrific IMO. I could have just as easily seen that as an HBO series. Its not without its flaws as some of the dialogue was a bit irksome and a few (not all) plot twists were fairly obvious, but potential is there for a great series.

    That's what I was thinking.

If this was on HBO, I'd probably watch.. but given NBC's track record, it will be either really bad and get canceled after two episodes or really decent and get canceled after two episodes.

Bumped to the summer in favor of Law & Order reruns. That's not a good sign.

    NBC exiles 'Kings' to summer

    Apr 22, 2009, 09:16 AM | by Jeff Labrecque

NBC’s midseason drama Kings has been exiled to summer. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the low-rated drama, which was recently shifted to Saturday night after failing to find an audience on Sundays, had been pulled from the current schedule altogether. The show, starring Ian McShane, will return on June 13 and complete its run on July 25.

Starting this Saturday, NBC will air reruns of Law & Order: SVU, Southland, and Law & Order.

Re: Anyone plan to watch Kings tonight on NBC?

NBC, Sunday night, and mid-season was just not a good combo. I truly think if they aired it in the fall, or even in Southland's spot, that the ratings would have been ok (not spectacular.)

I am resigned to it being canceled (and Life) but I hope Chuck survives the axe.
