Tupac was probably more than average, but I don't have enough knowledge with rap/hip-hop/that area to know. But it says a lot when a white Polish guy can listen to Tupac and find it good.

Tupac's popularity no doubt benefitted when he died, but not as much as some might think. I'm sure there are people who checked him out after his death, but he had already earned most of his status before he died. A lot of people bought his records because of his controversy and persona he created, which was more act than substance. Now The Notorious B.I.G on the other hand, had his status escalate after he died. While he was popular when alive, he suddenly became the "greatest rapper ever" after he died. He was good, but not among the handful of the greatest.
White Polish guy, huh. I'm half Polish, and I appreciate Tupac. Maybe Tupac was a Polak?
