    Random Sunflower seeds

I eat them like they're going out of style.

I can go through two, sometimes three bags of FritoLay's sunflower seeds in a day.

    Anyone else a fan?

    Re: Sunflower seeds

Before I vote, I need clarification. I chew seeds, yes. But I don't eat the seed. So is this asking do you like sunflower seeds or do you like to eat the seed?

You chew but don't eat them?

What do you do? Crack them out of the shell, chew em up, and spit them out?

I put a handful in my mouth, let them sit for a bit. Then crack them, get the salt from the seed and shell when they are separated, spit, and repeat.

    Re: Sunflower seeds

    interesting.

I didn't differentiate between that because I've never heard of anyone doing that before.

I know some people who suck on the seeds in the shell and spit the whole thing out, but I've never heard of anyone taking the effort to crack them open and then spitting everything out, seed included, before.

Oh yeah man! They last longer that way, plus when you get ones that are salted in shell, there's flavor locked inside that little capsule that is just waiting to be released.

And I only like the salted ones...none of that flavored crap.

    Re: Sunflower seeds

I like the ranch flavored ones, but the "regular" ones are by far my favorite.

My favorites are the ones that are partially opened or have a hole in them, they're generally kind of burnt and taste better.

I don't really see how they last longer when you spit them out as opposed to eating them, however.

    Re: Sunflower seeds

Last longer meaning they are in your mouth longer when you crack them open as opposed to just spitting them out after a little bit.

    Re: Sunflower seeds

Oh, you was comparing it to just sucking on the shell.

I get the salt off the shells when I have the huge wad of uncracked seeds in my cheek and I get the taste of the seed itself after I crack one open and eat it.

    Re: Sunflower seeds

So basically we do the same thing, except you eat the seed and I don't.

So that goes back to my original question. Do I answer yes, or no?

    Re: Sunflower seeds

What difference is there between swallowing the chewed up seed and spitting it out?

I'd say you should answer yes since you basically get the same thing out of it that everyone else does.
