Oh... IMHO there were a LOT of influences and groups in the 80's who really started this touchy-feely, or political activism, or "you can't feel my pain", or other mindless crap that really set off the suckiness that we really saw in a high degree in the late 80's early 90's.. and I won't even get into how record company induced ballads geared towards teen girls brought down hard rock/metal
The pretentious U2, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, Soft Cell, oh the list goes on... I need to go get a coffee and a cigarette and now get all that crap out of my mind again
