I think that for the majority of the movie, there was nothing outstanding, but I think that it was a pretty good modern version of what "It's A Wonderful Life" tried to say. Maybe some people don't appreciate that as much, but I think it's got a nice message despite the fact that it was a bit clicheed

Seeing Brooks hang himself in Shawshank Redemption was pretty depressing.

    There's a good one...

What about Armageddon, when Bruce Willis stays to die on the meteor?

The comparison that was made fits.

They both pretty much sell the same moral.

Especially since Brownie's favorite reference, Rotten Tomatoes, said the following:

"This latest Adam Sandler vehicle borrows shamelessly from It's A Wonderful Life and Back To The Future, and fails to produce the necessary laughs that would forgive such imitation."

While I disagree a bit with their opinion, it's a decent comparison.

Yeah..."it borrows shamelessly" from it...not a great comparison, is it

It says nothing about it being a poor comparison. The point is that the moral is the same. They didn't like the movie, and that's fine, but the comparison is accurate.

It still shows that they agree the moral is the same, they're just stating it in a bad tone because they apparently view it as "robbing" the moral from the movie.

(Like as though it's the only time in the history of Hollywood that a moral has been used more than once.)

The new movie Recount has a lot of sad moments but Lieberman basically killing Gore's chances of winning is a sad one

Kevin Spacey and Denis Leary made it quite lively.

I thought this was going to be a good thread. But it started with Adam Sandler and is still Adam Sandler.
