    Wireless internet help

So i'm sitting in my room this morning tooling around on the internet like I normally do when suddenly my wireless signal goes away.

I think maybe somebody unplugged the router on accident, but I come back to the living room and it's still plugged in and the lights are all on. (same with the modem.)

Now I (nor my brother) can seem to find a signal all day. One will show but when we try to connect it either says "connecting" for forever then doesn't connect or it "connects" but says "limited or no activity" which really means no activity. (I'm hardwired right now)

Every once in a blue moon we get a real signal, but it comes and goes as often as a Juan Pierre home run.

Everything appears to be working, everything's plugged in, it's obviously not just my computer (since Mr D is having the same issue) can anyone help me?

    done countless times.

i've also done the thing where you unplug everything, replug in the modem, wait 5 minutes, and replug the router, and restart the computer multiple times.

Have you tried doing a power cycle on both the router and modem? My friend had the exact same problem yesterday...and I troubleshooted with her for 20 minutes over the phone trying to solve the problem...when finally I suggested she do that "again". She said she had already tried it...but I think she was lying

    Re: Wireless internet help

Maybe something is interfering with the signal. Did you or your brother by any chance plug in a new cordless phone this morning?

Lots of cordless phones use the same 2.4 frequency

It happened shortly after the kids left for school, I can't think of anything that may have been plugged in.

    Re: Wireless internet help

Well, the signal seems to have magically started working again without me doing anything.

I'll report back if the issue reoccurs.

Talk to your provider if it happens again.

I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Sign into the router and check the permission status.

Shit changed on me once when my sister repaired her connection in a deadspot in her room, and it bumped the main house comp off and locked down her old port.

If it happens, because it can correct itself.

If you have an ethernet cable, plug it into your comp, go to your router's address and in two clicks, reset the wireless internet. If you don't have an ethernet cable, well, then I wouldn't know what to do.

    Re: Wireless internet help

the router should come with an address that has all numbers for example http://68.0.198.1 or something similar. To find the address, routers usually come with a CD where you can find the address or look in the booklet that came with the router, that will get to you the setup.
